my monsters

Post by justwalt » January 31st, 2009, 12:43 pm

My grandfather is the wind
my grandmother- dust
my father is music
my mother- trust

my brother is aloneness
my sister- pain
my son is wonder
my daughter- the flame

my wife is my love
my lifeline to the light
myself, I am silence
my home- the dead of night

my family is my wisdom
my friends- exist as one
together, they are my fortune
when parted- I have none

my passion is for peace
my purpose- only to live
my pursuit is in awareness
my pleasure- only to give

my words are mere empty spaces
my thoughts- cast in between
my past is a fading memory
my future- a fleeting dream

my mind is not where it should be
my heart- bound with discontent
my spirit pleads the need for escape
from this- human imprisonment

my reflected image is flawed
my ego- certainly jaded
but to be who I am not to be
would be just me- self degraded

my cynical side is healthy
my creative side- has agreed
they are but a parasitic fraction
of my soul- from which they feed

my life is a revolving struggle
it's been that way- since birth
my lust for death to desire me
is my sole commitment-to earth

my imagination is intoxicated
my conscience- a blessed curse
I've passed out on the razor's edge
and pissed behind the universe

my emotions are a sailing ship
my curiosity- her pirate crew
my morals are a desert isle
where animosities are- taboo

my virtues are treasures plundered
my visions- waters unexplored
my anger is charged with mutiny
and my hatred- thrown overboard

my cargo holds are filled with ghosts
my sails- filled with confusion
my voyage through time is undefined
and my quests unveil- true illusion

my inspirations are sporadic
My methods- madly composed
my intelligence is always lacking
but my instincts are- superimposed

my adventures seem never ending
yet my dreams- cannot be found
my search for truth is tiring
my hopes- to one day run aground

and when that day does dawn
I'll abandon my ship of- sin
then turn my back to wind and sea
and let my final journey- begin

neat voyage, walt

good craft and neat images
loved, 'pissed behind the universe.'

I would say, "shorter"
but I would have said that to Walt Whitman too

I know, it gets pretty redundant pretty quick, my-my-my
the first five were written ten years ago, and stood by
itself....but then, expounding somehow got expanded
exponentially.

didn't I see you at that dive, behind the universe?
thanks

thanks, very many HP, my best review to date.
it's about 99 parts true...line 9 though...was
written before I was married. It refers to the
mother of my children, and of a time 20 years
ago. thanks some more.

walt...although long-ish and my-my-my, this is finely crafted & sails on the tongue like a ship. it is indeed a journey.
