buenos aires
i'll be in buenos aires for a few days in the second week of february - any tips? advices? ideas? experiences? has anybody been there (arcadia??)?
wow!, qué bueno, Anemone!!!!!!!!
I´m not a great Buenos Aires expert, though!
I´m only 400 km from there but I´ve been only few times and mostly for few time. Mmmm... plaza de Mayo, Palermo, La Boca, Recoleta, plaza Francia, el Delta maybe?
Sure you´ll find there good guides!!!!
If you have time enough to visit Rosario it would also be great, I´d love to know you personally!!!!!! Tell me and us about your plans in argentinian lands !!!

judih, yes, meat i've heard also. and tango, and style, and bars and architecture, and "paris with a vibrant latinamerican spin"....
and summer, right now.
it'll be a sudden and unexpected adventure for me. my friend who works for lufthansa airlines (and who had been offering me other amazing trips before... remember goa? dakar? and i've never had the time nor money to go until now...) has now offered me another great opportunity: a business class flight (if i dress up!) on the machine she's working on, plus four nights in a *****-hotel and four splendid days with her in the city -- for the cost equivalent of a shopping cart of food.... whow. so how could i resist? i told the family that they had to be ascetic for a few days and that i would fly!
and enjoy some summer and women's energy on the southern half of the planet. ah!!!
cecil, i WILL bring pictures... be prepared! oh yes...
veronica!! palermo viejo i've heard, yes, and san telmo. ricoleto, plaza de mayo... yes! let's see how much time and steps we can take....
funny how rosario can be so far - it looks like just a spit away on the map (yes, i looked!).
unfortunately, i won't be able to make it there - time is too short. we only have four days. but should you feel like spitting yourself over for a day or night, i'd happily invite you for a coffee or whatever else we can think of (because yes, it would be great to get to know you personally)!
as for now, i'm busy getting better - i've been lying in bed sick for the past few days. the first time for 15 years! what a lousy timing....
i propbably need some summer.

panta: what a beautiful oportunity !!!! i've been lying in bed sick for the past few days. the first time for 15 years! what a lousy timing.... ...
don´t worry, it´s the emotion, you´ll recover soon and your family will be ok!
I´d love you to came to my home and my city, but no doubt, with only four days in Buenos Aires stay there!, there are a lot of things to see and to do!. Hey!, I went to see Dylan last year and I travel daily 2 hours to arrive and to return to my job place , sure I can travel to see you for a day
. The province government will pay me my salary tomorrow, so I´ll be rich for a week!
. I can take with my mate equipment, only tell me if you both will be willing to try it!!!!
First time I went to the capital was when I was nearly 20 more or less. I traveled in a day-trip organized by my university to visit the Book Fair and the Recoleta´s Fine Arts Museum . I was amazed by the big spaces, the so wide roads & the light in downtown (the most felt difference thinking in my own city with the exception of the river coast). Though I found I imagined Plaza de Mayo bigger. The other times I went I specially treasured a theathre night seeing "Fulgor argentino" in Catalinas Sur near La Boca and a ship travel in El Tigre.
Sure you´ll enjoy the city and find your favourite places and moments!. I´d also love to see and listen about it!
About meat... well, I guess it´s good!. I only tried chilean and brazilian ones and yeah, it´s better!. So, if you´re not a vegetarian to try an asado or local empanadas here sure it will be a pleasent experience!. And the wines, the icecreams and the alfajores with dulce the leche are just great!!!
rest, take your time and e-mail me or post here when you have more details!
artguy: Timbutku! where´s that?
(I´ll google it!)
besos,

that's why i am asking, clay.
there are summers where you need no jackets, and those where you occasionally may need one (im not talking trenchcoat here).
it will be fun, though, to leave my winter boots and down jacket inside my friend's car in frankfurt when i flow south on the river of february (that just sounds more poetic than "when i fly on lufthansa wings")....

once I went to San Francisco in the summer ('67)
I didn't have enough flowers to wear in my hair
it was Cold at night when the fog blew in from the bay
so I went to the free store and got a bedspread (green)
and walked with it wrapped around me
I almost married a girl named February one time
we went on the rocks because she couldn't stand the idea
of being named Febrero Enero.

I have more busy monday and tuesday with other activities beyond job, but I can travel on wednesday or thursday (I can have four days off in my school per year for "imprevistos" , ( only one per month) only in times when I don´t have kids in charge (which is a bit tricky!
) . Last week is the last week with no kids at school, so there will be no problem!. Pm when you consider it which day will be better for you! I guess bus tickets to BA can be bought easily with not too much anticipation but I´ll also ask in the station about it meanwhile.
and hey! you´ll be the first panta rhei, S-8 and german-german friend I meet face to face (I already have here two little argentine-german friends!!!!!) I´m very happy!!!!!
will i need to bring a jacket?
there was an strong and suddenly storm here last monday after days of too much heat. Today is has been raining and I wore a t-shirt and a cotton coat in the morning. Bring some light jacket just in case! february is more variable than january here.
l-rod: choose the costumes you prefer, but I guess you´ll look lovely dressed as a renegade gaucho here!!
