If our Leaders

Post by Nazz » February 5th, 2009, 5:06 am

If our leaders understood,
then they might not lead like that.
The planet may be dead to numbers,
or rhetoric, or hoarding of wealth.

If our leaders only understood,
there would be no more dry piss wars
where we volunteer to blow us up
with weapons provided.

If our leaders only understood,
they would fear the power of numbers.
We don't understand their reasons,
despite centuries of speech.

centuries ahead, when the archeologists
unearth our memory chips, they will call us
the scribes....

I swear they don't get it.
But since we don't get that they don't get it,
it doesn't matter, right?

We can drop tons of Agent Orange on The Enemy,
but Michael Phelps can't have a fucking bong hit?

Jesus, turn that wine back into water.
We invent all kinds of shit, that's old skool,
but we can't even muster our own spirit sometimes.
We expect some all-everything space God to do it.
How lame is that?

The longer I call this place home, the less it feels like home.
The more I learn about this place, the less I know about it...

Or so it can seem at times.

We wanta talk about sending our smart bombs and kids and M-16's over to civilize those evil Muslim terrorists in Afghanistan? Well fine, talk all one wants, and maybe drive to the Big Box store and buy a Bruce Willis dvd or something to getcha in the mood... Yeah, those Islamo-fascists need to be exterminated like vermin, don't they? I saw it all on cable. I admit, they make this place seem even less like home than American bootprints trying to police and smooth over religious tribal rebellions next to the oil derricks, but what the hell... I'm sure God has a plan and all. I'm sure God would want the Defense Contractors and faceless oil giants to make a shitload of money on the backs of taxpayers, right? I'm sure God has a plan and all. Or so it can seem at times.

Gotta admit 'tho... Nice to have the (figure?)head of the Free World speaking in complete sentences at least. And even using forms of political compromise with hints of logic in his speech. Why, just the other day I heard him say, "No bill is perfect... but let's not make perfect the enemy of essential" when talking about that stimulus thing now floundering in Congress. Yeah, at least we have that...

god came into being when order and control corroded into chaos and anarchy. this was renamed free will and gave all an excuse to blame their ignored responsibilities upon some he-god up there somewhere that controls our lives. this he-god gave us free will because if he didn't he-god wouldn't be a nice he-god, would he? and nobody would give him the honor they would never give themselves because it's too heavy, man... we can't go there... we have enemies to fight against our he-god, enemies that must be reduced to atoms then maybe our he-god will give us what we've always wanted... uh... we'll think of it before we get there... give us a chance. we're only hu'man, you know... don't you?

and that, my friend, is about the proverbial nut in an eggshell. no matter how many words we use, there isn't any that we've created that spell 'r-e-l-i-e-f' from the aching existence that we always seem to fuck up one way or another... we're too goddamned busy trying to make-up answers for every question that we dream up to avoid the truth within.

Does God exist without human consciousness? Or vice versa? Which one "needs" the other the most? And free will is a mighty strange calculus in the face of "God's Plan", or the words of the prophets, isn't it? I always wondered about that as a kid. The desert reminded me. I don't know. These leaders of ours, what were they thinking? What the hell was that Twentieth Century all about? Utter aggression, just put your head down and charge. You'd think we were all just born. Actually, most of us were just born. There's been a population explosion. Most of us have handled it well enough, others not so well.

"What the hell was that Twentieth Century all about? Utter aggression, just put your head down and charge."

That's about it... including charging your financial ass off.

Is it too early to paint a picture of the 21st or would that be only dreams and imaginings?

Oh, 'god's plan'. I think I've written about that word, god. It's so goddamn ridiculous only because every friggin fool in the world uses the word for their self gain and ego that it's lost whatever importance it once had. I've had it with 'god'... ;)

human beings will fuck up as long as they abuse free will by living unconsciously, be they leaders or "normal people"...the blame game will not stop this

My Dad is constantly making jokes about guns and having a gun, as he nears the end of his life. That's a new thing. And some stories of his (peripheral) involvement in the Korean War (as an 18-year-old, straight out of high school) are now coming out-- things he never shared before, even generally. As fucked up as other centuries of human experience have been, the "20th Century" (bleeding into the 21st), despite its astonishing technological advances, was a critical mass of fucked up-- it was all on such an unprecedented, "apocalyptic" scale. No wonder the End Times religious doctrines gained more traction after the collective moral disasters of the century's first half (as did the rejection of religion and God altogether). If there is such runaway collective moral bankruptcy among massive numbers of humans, then surely they'd need "God" to rescue them from themselves? (The "Big Cop Out"?) Or conversely, if there is a "God", how could this "God" turn a blind eye and not somehow intervene?

I have no problem with the idea or "knowledge" of God. Atheists seem just as goofy to me as Bible thumpers. No, my differences have always been with religion, the "God-in-a-Box" thing. About the most I can say for religion is that it has inspired beauty and benevolence from within its doctrinal confines (at times), yet I still can't see it as any more than a structured sort of path toward enlightenment. Too often it seems religion sees its own theology as the final destination and not the path.

... just in one of those "talking moods", I guess.

Absolutely well put, as a stake to the heart....
god is in a box, that's why I don't accept from UPS

The most real evidence I see of a "spirit"
is in the american native understanding

they have no religion, just the way of life
there is a higher power, you cannot deny it

They know where the spirit lives
all you need to see is a mirror
many is a word
