what is it

Post by mtmynd » March 8th, 2009, 1:44 pm

what is it we can honestly say to ourselves
when asked, "what do we know?" without
relying on the vagaries of memory gained from
books written by the same people we all are
with weaknesses and frailties hoping for answers
more than facts based on opinions for opinions sake
and seldom the Truths that will envelope us in bliss..?

you asking me?

not much, when you put it like that.
we now that pain makes us feel bad. and that love is the right thing to do, when we are in doubt.

it's getting close to 12:00 so that would be lunch... but I had a large stack of pancakes for breakfast so i might just eat an apple and cheese and toss in some mixed nuts... wash 'em down with a cold beer. it's 62F right now. :)

oh, yah. had a ferry in our town some years ago. went down there in 7 hours. we had some great partys on that boat.
and of course i couldnt be talking about Denmark without mentioning the Roskilde festival. had some pretty cool summers of love and music in that country!
besides, there is busses going to copenhagen 3 times a dayand the train goes every second hour through Moss.
its not unheard of for the freaks to take the night buss to copenhagen (we call it Køben)and rest out in Christiania, the little hippiecommunity in the middle of the capitol.

Denmark is also a very common place to have a vaction for familis with kids. you know, Lego Land and TIVOLI and very good, cheap beer!

Danes are pretty weird though...

I just goggle Moss Norge... didn't know you were so far from Denmark. Also didn't know you lived by the waters... pretty cool that google map took me to Fr. J Holsts veg and Richard Olsens veg ... what's 'veg' mean... road?... street..?

Have you ever eaten at Gudegarden .. saw the picture on google... maybe in the old part of Moss..?

after seeing a larger map I see Lietuva... my mother's parents were from Lithuania... not far from you, eh? Small world. ;)

cool, paps! yeah, "veg" or " vei" or "gate" means Road or street. "gata is more street-wise, but means the same.and if you wanna find my hous it is in Løkkegata 19. aka Happy street (lykkliga gaten (SWE)).

ha! i have eaten in Gudegården actually. i was gonna surprise my former girlfriend with dinner and champagne. and some tickets to a show. i am a fucking romantic. turns out she didnt even raise an eye. we started arguing and i went to the show with lars, the bass player( who kicked my ass for taking him to such a "useless pice of upperclass shit") ( when i took him to see clapton, tickets on me and everything, the show sucked so bad that he hit me in the face on the way home.
its a nice place. we acctually took the picture on the cd in front off the yellow brickwall right next to Gudegaarden (garden of God).

I have never been to the east. longest i ve been is probably stockholm. or Prague? Lithuania is very bohemian looking. i know my chess mates use to go there to play tournaments. i know i'll check it out some day.
your shack on the google map? maybe a bit uncool to ship the adress over huh? hey! igot your adress, don't i ? i had it here somewhere.
where did i see that? in some book, i guess.

you a bit outside town, right?

water? what's that?? hell, lasse, i miss rain... it's been really dry here for a long time. the rio grande runs thru our city but it's not much because there are dams north of us for the farmers to use for their crops. but a few years back we had one hell of a rain that brought floods like nobody alive here had ever seen... so bad they evacuated the lower parts of the city not far from the river just in case it overflowed really badly... it didn't.

i'll pm you my address so you can get a birds eye view of our casa... i spotted your place looks like it's near a corner street. is the area you live in old or is it pretty new?

sorry to hear about that clapton concert... sucked bad, eh? hard to believe... must have been years ago. i saw him so long ago his hair was long and he didn't wear glasses. but he put on a great concert.

clapton on a chair playing the blues in a big sports arena... no smoking.
not exactly what we had in mind, acustumed to cream and derek and the dominoes stuff. they wrapped up the show with "sweet home chicago"...
I deserved it. back in the late 90's.

my house located in a very old area in the senter of the town. but you know... reality of the presens is creepin' in. I curse the river of time!

mtmynd, this struck a deeply resonate chord within me. I spent my childhood looking for answers in books written by people as frail and fallible as myself. I got lost on the journey. I listened to music because I was told it was good. I read certain books because they were supposed to be good. Only much later did I discover the road to happiness. I'm so glad I read your poem this morning.

John
