Wailing

Post by Artguy » April 4th, 2009, 12:08 pm

Wailing Wall

Ya I wail at walls
I wail at cats
I wail at birds
If only wailing were
Silent
As a zen masters mind
I would wail at flowers
If it would do any good
Mostly though
I just wail
Like Charlie Parkers' eternal
wail

i heard the lost whimper
before i could hear the buzz
after the scream came the
panting running madly
after the squeal yelling
in crisscrossed words
as if nobody was listening
and at that singular moment
came the horrendous cry
tearing apart the silence
one letter at a time
s/i/l/e/n/c/e/
i/l/e/n/c/e/
l/e/n/c/e/
e/n/c/e/

struggling to stay alive
e... begging for help
e... ignored while lying there
in a pool of bloody alphabetical debris
e... e... e... it's only sound
pitiful and weak now
'e' dismal and useless
'e' needy little 'e'
in desperate search
for vowels
for consonants
it's sound...
e
e
e
drowning in
an ocean
of wails
