Corporate meetings.

They scheduled a meeting on Friday at noon.
The purpose was to appoint a Meeting Guru.
Once selected, the Guru elected
to have the meetings weekly.
"These will be necessary", he stated meekly,
"In order to determine when future meetings
should be held and past meetings should have begun."

It was a wonder they got anything done.

Always amazed me how the corporate world could have such an ongoing blind spot to these recurring drains of productivity. Big reason why I never took the corporate world too seriously. Well, that and the fact that it's, you know, corporate... Good one, Doreen.

I'm getting ready for a meeting scheduled an hour from now. I just printed out 5 different documents, most of them 2 pages each, for 3 people. The meeting lasts an hour and a half. It would take an hour and a half to discuss one of these documents. That means the others will have to wait until next meeting but by the time we've scheduled another meeting for next week there will be additional documents generated and I'll print them out and we won't have time to review them all. So I need to get in touch with the Meeting Guru to make sure more meetings are scheduled.

I'm thinking of a series... with cartoon illustrations.... A Dilbert-like book but with poetry. Of course, after I generate the poems and the cartoons, I have to find time to put the book together. And you know how that goes..... sighhhhhhhhhhh

we must meet asap to discuss this disturbing poem......the corporate model is like an endangered species that we should just let die.......
but first we will need to meet and discuss that ad nauseum....good luck straightening that out doreen....the poetic dilbert idea sounds good.......

It's all flow charts and bar graphs to them. Productivity standards met and unmet. No such thing as people. No love on Lovers Lane. Just grist for the mill.
