Barry's in the hospital. He went in for a procedure and all went well till the drs. discovered they'd left in some gauze and poor Barry had to undergo additional surgery.

He's in need of our best healing vibes. Please send them to Amsterdam. His partner, Anja, is quite tired and more than anxious and could use our cyber support. Barry's asleep and drs are allowing him to wake up naturally - they say they're waiting till Monday before interfering.

thank you for joining in. Barry's one of the few people who actually follows his heart and lives as a poet, performing at festivals, clubs, radio. Well, we all know that it ain't easy.

I enjoyed some of his poems. They actually kind of mirror how I'm feeling these days-- more the direction I want to go.

green candle for old-litkicks-Barry & family! (I vaguely remember him writing in the atmosphere of a poet who wrote in minimalistic-second-bright colors and painted in blacks, greys & whites).

no further word as of this morning 6:08 a.m. israel time. i'm imagining anja sitting chanting, taking breaks by crossing her fingers and then going back to guard him at the hospital. She surely must be on a 24/7 watch.

thanks arcadia dear for your green healing candles and thanks mtmynd for increasing the group power.

i'll let you know if i find out any more info. Let the man awaken if he's got the power. And let him decide to use his power to wake up. or, in short, sending some more power.

Update! Saturday evening, May 2nd, Israel time
Good news...
Here's what Anja wrote:

An update. This has been one of the longest and most horrible weeks in my life.
After all the complications after the operations everything calmed down on sunday, monday. They stopped the sleeping medication on monday.

On tuesday and wednesday everyone was worried he didn't wake up. I was really really scared. When I rang the i.c. yesterday they told me his awareness was nearer the surface.

So I decided to take Footsteps and Amsterdam nights (Barry's books - note from judih) with me. Yesterday I red him from footsteps. His eyes were open he didn't follow with his eyes but he blinked twice when asked.

Today his eyes were closed. but when I began to speak they opened. They still don't follow. When I started my one woman show with songs like Barry can u hear me (Who) and Hello Barry, this is Anja Barry (Louis Armstrong) his eyes widened and his eyebrows went up I'm sure he smiled as well round the oxygen tube. And when I said what are you flirting with me? He did it again the smiling. And I've got witnesses .You cant imagine what a blink of the eye does for ones wellbeing. I feel so much lighter. All because of something like a glimpse of hope.

The doctors said on wednesday that they wanted to wait till next monday to make any plans. Good. The recovery of his body goes well. While Barry is so stil his wounds are healing.

Rebecca, Barry's youngest daughter will arrive at Schiphol tomorrow morning.( from Rochdale ) Someone who doesn't want to do anything else but to share this with me for 100%.

And that is what I want to do as well. She is all a daughter should be and more. Becca and my daughter Sammie like each other as well. So there are at least two strong women close to me who can help me to help Barry. And all the old friends from both of us who are there for us and Becca. Nearby or far but all the time.

Thank you all for thinking of Barry and for sending him positive energy in all those different ways. I'm sure every little bit will help him to come back.

Update - May 6

I got a report from Anja after Barry's daughter, Becca came for a visit:

"Every day is a bit better. Is very emotional & exhausting. Was so nice for Becca to see her father and communicate with him.
Monday they took the tube out of his lungs. He is breathing by himself. So he is trying to talk. Difficult to understand after 10 days without practice.
Every time is better but slowly. He still got his sense for humour."
