medusa
patiently she waits, the gracious one
medusa, her serpentine tresses coil
and hiss with the sibilance of the damned
i have grown under the tutelage of her eyes
basked in the warmth of the hearth
hungry, she fed me and
taught me the way of knife and fork,
i was schooled by her glances
and in my dreams her eyes followed me
she forgave and forbade my trespasses
my transgressions, once
she offered clemency for a kiss
but my timidity refused her
and she froze me with her pain
there is only one woman
no matter how many times we meet
she has the same eyes

We are fortunate sons.

My Medusa
Got a rock and roll sound to it
My Sharona
Yeah, don't it make you want to rock and roll all night long.
The male conception of the female abomination
Yes warm enigma
I come close very close
I don't know what saved me
maybe I am a nice guy after all
but on or about the 22nd of November 1963
I come close to leaving her a cold enigma
A Mickey Spillane Moment when Oedipus wrecked.
I wish you would stop tripping my triger
poetry is a trip
Got a rock and roll sound to it

thank you, arcadia. it was a difficult poem to write. many attempts - many revisions. i wanted to give my interpretation of the medusa myth. i think the myth has psychological insight and power in the same sense that the myth of oedipus does. at least for me, they are similar. they aren't myth; they are reality.
