The Hard Drive

I live in a little town in Colorado over on the western slope. I got a buddy who owns a wrecker service. One snowy day he called me:
"Come on over I got something to show you."
It was a smashed up Dell computer that had been in a car that went off the mountain.
I still got it, but now I use it as a night stand next to my bed. But at the time it was an incredible leap in technology for me, a PIII. The case was destroyed, the thing had been thrown out of the car and went skidding down the highway. So I took the mother board out and put it in a old Gateway full tower, that case was waist high, god it was furniture, solid steel. I started it up with the hard drive just dangling by a cable and it booted right into windows like it was mine. Eerie like playing a Theremin. There was this guy's life on it. It was a sad hard drive The troubles of a mid level author, he was making hundreds of thousands of dollars, but not millions, he had a wife but he was not pleased with her career choices, he had a New York city literary agent but they were not on the same page, he had a brother ........
That is all I got to read a before the drive crashed and gave up the ghost.
