Why Log Truck Drivers Rise
Earlier Than Students Of Zen
In the high seat, before-dawn dark,
Polished hubs gleam
And the shiny diesel stack
Warms and flutters
Up the Tyler Road grade
To the logging on Poorman creek.
Thirty miles of dust.
There is no other life.

I read that Snyder poem about seven years ago but I just noticed the last couple of lines.
I read an Anne Sexton poem about thirty years ago but it is only recently that I realized it was not really about trucks either.
"I'm not aware of too many things" ---Eddie Brickell
Early morning is the best time of day for me too.
Cecil you remind me of Snyder
Thanks for the pretty truck pictures SmileGRL
The road still owns me.
But I don't have 18 wheels under me anymore
just the wheels on this chair I am sitting in.
Knowing Snyder's concern for the environment I think the poem had more to do with the thirty mile plume of dust than the truck. To the logging on Poorman creek.

No. No.
All lies.
I am a truck. I run everything.
I own you.
