summers recurrence, seemingly
dislodged from its normal pattern
changed as if a little out of step
somewhat out of tune with the past
being different from what’s used too
causing an uncomfortable feeling
not familiar with the way things are
struggling with the way things will be
unpredictable, not being as if it was

sort of like summer not here as of yet
or spring just can’t let go of april showers
cold, damp and rainy hoggin’ the stage
great for the flowers and grass, however
the spirit feels draped forever in overcast
dreary the disposition of the soul, cloudy
future prospects seem, where blue sky
hopes and dreams of a playful summer
are suspended in waiting for its turn
a chance to romp freely out in the sun
before fall impatiently taps at the door
