Follow me to the end

Post by goldenmyst » June 13th, 2009, 9:57 pm

Follow me to the end

Sorrow sings across centuries
Her beseeching voice beckons
Like pure plaintive passion
Blooms like a sad flower
In cobble stone crevice
Petals fade into night

Deep pain sung into life
In lover’s quarrel with fate
Whose merciless scythe
Harvests maidens young and old
Leaves wailing grief to mock
The hopes of sad eyed squires
Whose love knows no bounds

Dreaming gardens of yesterday
When green hopes flourished
Beneath moonlit boughs
Ancient serenades sung
Her refrain, “Follow me to the end”.
Still heard in this distant village
Where life gives birth to life
As I follow her footsteps
Quiet as the desert
Like a raven’s shadow

Judih, yes this came from my heart. Thank you so much. :)

Sweetwater, thank you so much. Truly I wish it were a great moment. However, my former wife likely has cancer. I plan to follow her through whatever comes. I hope for a good outcome. Thank you for reading.

Perdida, merci beaucoup.

John

Nazz, thank you so much for your good wishes. They made a difference.

Hester, your energies have born fruit. She is cancer free and on the road to healing. :)

Arcadia, your orange candles made a difference. She had a mastectomy and the tumors hadn't spread to her lymph nodes. So she isn't getting chemo and is healing from surgery nicely. I'm glad you liked my poem. It was inspired by a medieval song I heard twenty five years ago on New Orleans public radio. The woman singer haunts me still.
