She wrote formulas
Wearing a mini-skirt
Her derriere barely concealed
She dips daintily down at the waist
A scholar and a seductress

A figure more beautiful
Than any algebraic equation
My mind mesmerized by curves
My eyes led astray
From Pythagorean Theorem

Classmate protests her attire
How can we focus he declares
Her non-compliance expressed by silence
As she obdurately prances
Clad as provocative temptress
My drop out inevitable as gravity

For some reason I thought of A Confederacy of Dunces, the novel. Maybe it was the bit about the chalkboard? Maybe because it was set in New Orleans where you live.

Stilltrucking, I loved your link. LOL This poem was about an actual instructor who taught my freshman college algebra class. It occurred in Baton Rouge, at Louisiana State University in 1983. I didn't learn much about algebra, but boy the classes were visually stimulating.

I could tell you a story about Raging Cajun the tiger that used to be the mascot for the LSU football team that would break your heart.

On the subject of cats, I was going start a new thread about a tiger that was in the Circus I worked for. But I decided to just glom onto yours. We called him Rajun Cajun.

He used to be the mascot for LSU football team. They had declawed him but butchered the job. He was in constant pain. Could not stand to put any weight on his front paws. He would constantly shift from paw to paw roaring in agony.

I started to read "Confederacy of Dunces" but didn't get very far. It was quite an entertaining read as far as I got. I will have to acquire a copy and give it another try. Thanks for the recommendation.

mtmynd, it was a great time in my life. I'm glad you enjoyed. Now that I'm over the hill I look back on those days with pleasure. The Van Halen song sounds groovy. Hard to believe that over twenty years have passed since it was composed.
