You hang out at City Hall, drink coffee, eat doughnuts, and wait to be called. You get on a couple of juries and are then kicked off for some reason or another. You're supposed to get some token money for the thing but it's so small that you can't remember actually getting the money and don't really care if you received it at all.
i've been summoned to jury duty more than any human being should and they keep on sending me the summons like i was the only son-of-a-bitch that was available. but i go. if you ignore the damn thing they'll send a sheriff after you and make you show up. they are as serious as a nasty case of hemorrhoids. so i go, and i've never served on a jury. that's right, never. i went to sit in the jury chairs on one case but the judge gave a civics lesson on jury serving and then told us the case was settled out of court... we were excused. i received a check for $8.oo about a week later. i tell you, Hes'... it's no big deal (in TX).. just show up and sit around and wait.. take a book or something to do. sometime you can be there for 2 hours or so.
