you ought to know that by now

This is Constantine's artlog. He posted his poems in his own artlog forum for several years. He named the forum "Constantinople" and described it as "A byzantine journey through life's labyrinth."

don't like being told what to do
something inside me rebels
i get tense and resentful
regardless of all that recovery
shit about humility and acceptance
fuck your acceptance, i'll decide
what i will or won't accept
you don't know everything
even if you are sober
i'm sober too
and i still don't like it
relinquish control to a higher power
i don't trust no higher power
higher power has a bad track record
higher power likes to tell me what to do
i don't like being told what to do

... Best get you gone
To judgment in a higher court of grace.
Repent, depart, before God's trump-crack splits the sky.'

From that pale mist
Ghost swore to priest:
'There sits no higher court
Than man's red heart.'
SP

thanks for the poem
sorry about the long quote
It just popped into my head.

Doing okay
I stopped taking the pain pills
well I am nursing them along.
So far so good.
been three days so far
They got such serious side effects
And while I do have a death wish
it is not that serious yet.

Not sure what you are saying with this one
When you say Higher Power

But it is good to have a conversation with it, it is good to vent your anger. Knowing that Job died for our sins.

"Many a man has travelled this road
faced all the troubles took all the blows" jitterbug, the spinoza of jewtown

Just don't fuck with me Dino
just say it like it is
that is all I ask
please
I feel like I can count on you to do that
I will get by with a little help from my friends

thanks

i was kind of pissed when i wrote it. at the time, it was a reaction to having someone tell me what to do - so i started writing and it led me into that deep pool of resentment that i fish around in every hour or two.

Yeah Job had all those people telling him he fucked up too.

.

I don't know what happened but you put the experience to dam good use.

You know sometimes reason don't work

So what you have is "a poetry emergency" as Umberto Umberto used to call it.

My mind is a joke

My memory is toked

maybe this makes more sense

Umberto Umberto is also Zlatko, I hope I did not blow his cover

a very classy guy

he hardly posts here anymore

I am so paranoid I think it is probably because of something I wrote.

Well anyway I completely botched the quote from him which is supposed to read::

"A poem is an emergency."

On a personal note:
When I was in the International Motherhood of Brother Fuckers (aka the teamsters) we used to say:
"okay boss, I have to do it. But I don't have to like it"
