bare country

Post by saw » August 22nd, 2009, 7:56 pm

lets see now
how does one compute
his courage
I wonder to myself

my friend Max tells me
it ain't wilderness unless
there's a critter out there
than kill you and eat you

and the theory of relativity
is a burden my shoulders
are okay with so far, but how
much further to the next town

and I without a twelve gauge
dancing like an idiot in the trees
of the big black bear hoping those
teeny branches way at the top

will hold me, but not him.
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

It's all about the holding.
Indeed a marvelous day for poetry and poets!

As far as courage computation,
bear wrasslin' would not be it.
Nowhere near the top of my list.

(I was out in the woods a couple weeks ago, and I was always looking around. I wasn't loaded for bear either. Ha.)
