after costly personal testing
I learned my state of consciousness
had fallen into the non-ordinary range
which the man in the white smock explained
meant there was little hope
that I would ever be normal.....
"Thank God !!", I replied
and he said, "No, No, you don't understand,
you are simply not employable."
Thank God !!, doctor, thank god you are on my side !"
"No you idiot, these are not good things to have on your record."
"But, Ive never made a record, doc."
" NO, NO, NO, you fool, I'm talking about the data we have on you."
"Extraordinary, isn't it ?"
"NO, NO, NO, NO, you moron, I'm trying to be as tactful as I can,
you just don't measure up!"
" Funny that's what mom and dad said too, but all of you are wrong about that, every single one of my girlfriends tells me that,
that is simply not true."
"NO, NO, NO, NO, NO !!!!.....GET OUT OF MY OFFICE !!!!"

Catchy title
I could not resist reading.
The holy grail of enlightened intellectuals* in the fifties was to be "well adjusted" I guess that is what the beats were all about.
I wanted to be a juvinile delequent myself. Girls seemed to like them.
I liked it SAW
please pardon the personal note, but:
I been told that by selective service back in 1963. So I became a conscientious objector. Demanded my right to be a soldier and come to the aid of our country in her darkest hours after Tonkin Gulf.
*"enlightened intellectuals" is that an oxymoron?
