Image

OK so now I have this image, its part photo, part digital manipulation, part digital painting. What should I do with it?

A - Try to do an oil painting of the image.
B - Experiment with silk screening and try to silk screen the image.
C - It is what it is and its done. Send the image to someone who does
giclee prints and have a professionally printed 24 x 20 or 36 x 30 print done on high quality canvas or other specialty paper?

A - Paint a painting. Would love to see it when you're finished!

The other 2 options wouldn't work very well with this image.

I don't know Doreen, I think it would lose something in the translation to an oil. I may try it but I think the image as is with its shapes and solid flat colors would screen nicely. Problem is it would take 10 or 12 screens to get all the colors. Thanks for the input.

Garry... no offense intended... I'm just not too fond of the digital art. The edges are pixelated. The effect of solid flat colors is cool but the colors are dull and muddied. But mainly it's the fact that the edges are pixelated that made me say create a painting instead. Maybe you like the pixelated edges. To me it looks like it's not finished and looks like you used one or two effects and then just stopped working on it. What effect did you use? Photoshop's "Cutout" filter?

Doreen check out this thread.

http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=579911

I posted this image on wetcanvas and we are having a discussion on when digital manipulation becomes art. On that thread I detailed what I did to get this image and you can see the original photo I worked from. I think you will find the discussion interesting.

Sorry Doreen, but with its flat colors and pixelated edges I still prefer my original.

interesting title!: for me bounty is the name of a ship, I´ll have to search for other meanings!!!
first reaction: it´s the kind of motiv you´ll expect to see painted in oleo or pastel, and now you see a digital image with somehow naturalist colors!!. Kind of twisted redundante effect, it makes you wonder and see it more than once, gracias for sharing it!!!!! :D

actually i like this compo a lot
and the colors are NOT muddied ma'am
altho i appreciate HER ability to be more critical
instead of the normal fawning we all like to do

being really supportive is doing that and SHE should carry on with her response

i don't find the edges pixielated but scintillating
this is a wondurful and appealing table still life scene
that exudes autumn and harvested persimmons, peppers, tomAHtoes
into a calm darkness into an indirect light

a screen print would be a masterwork man
i'm on a survival mission
yo ho ho an a bottle of rum om

I'll never express my opinion again. Seriously. If it's ME who's being referred to as "SHE"... i won't reply to anybody's work again other to say

NICE PIECE!

Seriously

Didn't mean any offense. Not at all. I've been a digital artist for 15 years. So what, right?

lol

first thought, I love colors against a black background. Everything pops.

Personally, I kinda like the rough edges of the fruits altho, I can "see" what Doreen is saying. It would take a lot of screens to get all those colors, true, but it would really be nice screened. Or painted...either way, it is such a luscious image.

I think whatever way you decide to go, it will work out for the starting point is so nice. Kinda makes me hungry too.

I didn't see your reply to Jimbo Doreen, before I posted my reply. Everyone I know here respects your abilities and your opinions, Jimbo included, I am pretty sure.

I honestly didn't see any disrespect in his reply towards you or in his use of the pronoun. He just had a different opinion was my take. I am baffled now as to why you got offended and took such a defensive stance. I do hope all is well with you?

SueZ

Sorry... I overreacted.

There were other posts of mine on this thread a few months ago when this thread was originally posted but I deleted them. I had played with the original photograph myself and did some digital effects to create several digital art images for the purpose of showing gmart other possibilities to make the colors pop using photoshop and to avoid the ragged pixelated edges.

I spent a lot of time on it, actually. Several hours.

But gmart didn't like my input so I deleted them.

I guess I was just remembering that when I posted my comment last night.

Peace 'n' love.... I'm doing fine... thanks very much! Hope you are well too.
