fricking cricket

Post by Doreen Peri » September 5th, 2009, 10:05 pm

fricking cricket
tricked me, threw
his chirp,
ventriloquism his
forte, dirty little bug

was gonna escort
him out kindly, but
he hid in front behind
me, singin' monotone
harmony with the bass
board, gotta head in a
steep pound, pushed
the bed 'n bookcase
'round, gotta back
sprain, no sleep –

frickin' cricket when i
find the muthafucka
gonna keep him like
a pet in a glass jar,
no air, dare him to
do vocal calisthenics
in my trap then take
a frickin' nap

damn thing
been singin' since
sunup and, jiminy!
it's almost dawn
tomorrow already!

chinese myth
says don't kill the
flat-pitched pests,
but guess why?

'cause by
the time y'find 'em
they're prolly dead
already, and y'haven't
slept in three weeks

talk about bad luck!

the chinese
are geniuses
.
.
.

they are really loud around here...

wrote this last year

was reminded of it last night when i heard a cricket.... sure sign of autumn coming

i don't like them... they're pests... i esp. don't like them in my house!

what's the purpose of a cricket? that's what i'd like to know. They must have a purpose. if i knew their purpose, maybe i wouldn't hate them so much

Maree.... I won't have to lock him up in a jar any more now that Jack wants to eat him. Gonna fry the muthafucka, dip him in chocolate and ship him away.

heh

(thanks for reading, my friend.... Hey, why don't you post your poetry readings here, also, in the spoken word forum.... the Studio8 members will be delighted! Your voice is magic!)

tell me about it

my nephew feeds his gecko crickets
the gecko thinks they are crunchy delicious
not me.

but I was afraid to correct you

what interested me most was when you asked
what's the purpose of a cricket? that's what i'd like to know. They must have a purpose. if i knew their purpose, maybe i wouldn't hate them so much
And I was wondering if life most have a purpose?
"man would sooner have the void for a purose than be void of purpose"

Life is going to exploit every nook and cranny on this planet and probably many others too.

I was thinking of bees. They have a purpose. They're pollinators .... and they make honey. That's a purpose, right?

I donno what purpose human beings have, come to think of it, but seems like insects should have a purpose.

heh

maybe they serve no purpose to you
but that seems a pretty anthrocentric (anthromorphsm?)point of view. Bees are useful to human beings. Crickets are useful for reptiles, birds too prolly.

one of my gradmothers used to say that you never-never have to kill a black cricket! (we have here two variations: black ones and red-browinsh ones). I have instant sleep so they usually don´t bother my dreams but if they are on my sight and I don´t have a way to swept them away somewhere, I also kill them: they are voracious clothes and paper´s eaters!
