the Tibetan paradox

Post by sweetwater » September 8th, 2009, 10:12 am

the Chinese are more Taoists
and Confuscionists than they
are Bhuddist

Tibetan Bhuddism seems to be
a code of ethics and philosophy
of self awareness and regulation

A meditative self regulated way of being
with a code of behaviour that is non-violent
and tolerant to other religious beliefs

And why western democracies won't honour
the exiled parliament of Tibet, is a good question!

It would be strange to have a religion
or a code of ethics based in armed conflict
or a consience that is inferior
to money, fame and notoriety

But that is what the west has always been,
An armed conflict where our conscience is
sold for money, fame and notoriety

The Hollywood metaphor seems to be our religion
and our code of ethics, full of violence
and avarice

It's as to suggest that Tibet would have to engage
in an armed struggle, become arms dealers and create
and economy in the mind and spirit of Hollywood

that's it ! Tibet needs a movie industry
and a banking industry and to change its
foreign policy to an armed resistence

and forget about this goodwill towards others
and being self regulated and all this meditation
crap

it has to join the 'real' world

you know the real world of sex and drugs and rock and roll

or the other alternative
is to have the west think about honouring
the exiled parliament

and understand the implications of a non-violent
struggle
and,
maybe create a non-violent economy

Maybe they need a Court of Consience?

or a consience that is inferior
Was that a typo?
Or was it about Canadian spelling
it's about flavour and canadian spelling

Tibetan Buddhism does not require a geographical location to be what it is.

they're an exiled government

here's the link to the swiss channel for more info

what it appears to me as - is a contradiction in foreign policy
you won't negotiate with terrorists and you also won't negotiate
or honour (Canadian spelling) a non violent peaceful struggle
for autonomy

thanks for you comments

they're an exiled government
'they're' meaning Tibetans, but their governance is established around their practice of Buddhism which is the very foundation of their existence, their lives, their soul... and these things surpass geographical locations. The Dalai Lama is still the Dali Lama of Tibetans with or without a central location.

it exposes a contradiction in foreign policy
this is also inferred in the doc

the West won't negotiate with terrorists and they won't honour
nor negotiate for a peaceful non violent struggle for autonomy
either!

this is the point of the documentary or a perspective
relayed by the documentary - quite fascinating
i hope you enjoy it!

here's the hyperlink again

I watched the 4:06 minute clip, thank you. The Dalai Lama is still the Dalai Lama - the gentle, wise and knowledgeable leader of the Tibetan Buddhists who once resided in a country of their own community. Tibetan Buddhism is still very much alive with or without a geographical location.

Between the 17th century and 1959, the Dalai Lamas were the directors of the Tibetan Government, administering a large portion of the area from the capital Lhasa, although the extent of the lineage's political authority and directorship of territory has been contested. Since 1959, the Dalai Lama has been president of the Tibetan government-in-exile
