Go ahead. Talk about it.

I was just looking through my archives and ran across this silly little rhyming ditty about complaining... and it reminded me of this thread..... I wrote this in Sept of 2006.

.......

If ya wanna hear me bitch, here goes...
The weather is cold and so are my toes.
It's only September, it's not even fall!
Damn Mother Nature's got some kinda gall.
My money is funny, I ain't got two dimes
no scratch, my friends... so I'm in a real bind,
see my car needs repair, there's a leak in the plumbing,
my computer is screwed, it's got a loud humming,
the cost of my mortgage is making me poor,
and bugs fly in through my broken screened door!
I could go on with complaints, I could bitch, I could moan,
but what good would it do? You'd react with a groan.

So, if ya ask me to tell ya if all is OK,
I'll answer, "It's fine" and then I'd say,
"Everything's everything. Life is a peach!"
which is why every morning I lean over and reach
for the newspaper where I search the obits
and if my name isn't listed... well to hell with it,
I figure I'll get up and deal with the shit

I'm guessing, probably.

So?

So?

No idea.

Maybe
So so?

When people ask me how I'm doing that is what I say mostly, so so.

Or if it is obvious that I am doing very poorly when they ask, such as they see me changing out a flat tire I say, "just peachy."

Or if I am getting over something and feeling really good, I say "better"

 good poem Doreen, it made me smile. Sometimes the worst situations turn out to be the funniest with a little space and hindsight.

I tell mtmynd, "you'll laugh about this someday..." but it is sure hard to do at the moment.

When folks ask me how I am, I usually know them well enough to tell them the truth. "I feel like shit!" or "fine and dandy" are stock Soo answers. Acquaintances or joe blow just ask as a matter of fact, they don't really want to know the truth. Like saying "have a nice day" when you are checking out at KMart....

I would ask my Grannie how she was feeling..."with my fingers" was always her answer.
Freedom's just another word...

Or hear it or say it either. I used to live in a street-level loft apartment where you had to "prove" you were an artist to live on the street level. There were display windows and doors out to the sidewalk. The idea was for artists to have affordable space to sell their wares. One of my favorite things to do was to stand in my doorway and ask passerby, "How are you?" (I was 27, mind you, and thought I knew everything.) The answer I invariably got was, "Hi."
People just aren't prepared for the genuine, are they?:)

Peace,
Barry

I'm suddenly reminded of something I said while filmed. Relates a bit.

Jacob, awhile back there was this guy who, whenever I woke up in the middle of the night on a weekend, one of his movies would be on. I saw this one, it was about two people, a boy and a girl, who got held hostage in a convienience store robbery that was taped and broadcast by the media...it was like some kind of sci-fi, aliens did it sort of thing, but in the end, the guy became some sort of media superhero, because he saved the girl, and he wanted no part of it. He just wanted to live his life. The girl caitalized on her instant fame, while the guy relaxed into peaceful oblivion, hiding out from reporters and police alike. Watching your tape, seeing your face, I was reminded so much of the guy...I wish I could remember is name. I googled it once, and it brought up a whole ton of flicks he did I'd never heard of. You probably know who I'm talking about, don't you?

Peace,
Barry

Actually, I don't know what you're talking about, since that's a pretty vague description of a movie. An actor name or movie title would help me understand what it is you're trying to say a little more. :?

It's this guy...Stephen Dorff, and the film is S.F.W. Took me awhile to find it in the deeper recesses of my much-abused memory.

While I don't know how it relates to what I was saying, I find it fascinating I could remind someone of the hotness which is Stephen Dorff. :P
