Karl Jams with Jimi

All the bourgeoisie are in their cages and the yuppies have gone to burning man
You can hear alienation wailing in the bedroom
Dollars are cloaked in shroud and the workers cry “Enough!”

A Blackberry dolefully gathers the missing pieces of happiness
Somewhere a CEO is grimacing somewhere a CEO has no life
And the workers cry “Enough!”

The Proletariat they turn blue on Monday
And beam their nihilism down on my console
The state withers away cause the money is no more
And the worker’s cry “Enough!”

Will the Yippies ever seize control of the means to freak
And with this power its tripping out and its freaking
It sighs no this will be enough
And the workers cry “We're fucked”

Doreen, yes this is a bit on the light side. I like to freak when the spirit moves me. :)

Every good dog will have it's day, John, I'm sure.

But as once a hippie, and now a yuppie, I can't speak for the yippies

lovin' it

was in the midst
of the yippie HQ
on the wane
still doin' window pane
chili dogz & the
cheapest beer
in a smoke filled haze
we spent our daze
madam's organ
old D.C.
that was then this
is and how
they all be the
good old days
runnin' non stop
spiraling out of control
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

Walt I dig your drift. Yuppiedom isn't all bad. A lot less hungry and wasted than Hippiedom. :)

Wireman, ahh the good ole days. I learned about Yippies in the East Village. Was walking a street and a long haired guy offered me this huge book about the secret history written by the Yippies. It was only two bucks. I knew a good deal when I saw it. Probably would've taken me years to read it through. But I did learn the word, "Yippie".

you can hear alienation wailing
is culture integrating into their computers
are we becoming alienated by technology?
less social?

Sweetwater, I think that is a good assessment of the state of our culture. No more sitting at the table together for dinner. Many spend much of their time online. The implications of this trend will be seen in the future.

the future as much as being now
we could say we are being less social
or being social differently

i suppose no more alienated than
the Radio era! where people sat
around the radio over dinner

and then this different kind of socialism
means that people further away are
getting connected by technology

this forum is the future in some detail
how is answers the paradox of alienation

each poem seemingly an alienation
and a coming together

Good point sweet water. I do still hearken to the days of story telling in the living room. It seemed more intimate than pixels on a screen. However, both have their virtues.

Hester, I aspire to be a yippie one day. I like being freaked out. Thanks for reading my friend. :)
