Walking up to the store just now to get smokes, beer and milk, I saw a woman in the parking lot of the Round Table with a flat tire. The jack and spare were out, but obviously there was a problem. She was in the car on the phone. I decided to ask what's up on the way back.
"Hi," I said. "Do you need some help?" She explained the situation. Her lug wrench did not fit her lug nuts. "Is it the jack that came with the car?" I asked. It was. Who was she on the phone with? Her daughter, thirty minutes away at best. "I live just up the street," I said. "I have some tools. Maybe I can help. Keep your daughter on the line in case this doesn't work."
I went home and explained the situation to SueZen. She kissed me. She was fixing French Toast. My favorite. I grabbed my tool box and went to help this woman.
My lug wrench fit her lug nuts, but her jack wouldn't lift the car high enough to get the spare on. "I think it's a lubrication issue with the jack," I said. "I'll be right back." I went home again and got some Crisco, lacking WD40, which probably wouldn't have been right for the job anyway. It worked perfectly. The jack went up, the tire went on, and the lady was on her way.
And now my French Toast is ready.
Thanks, SueZen, for Everything.
Before the lady left, she said, "Have a good evening. Well, I know you will." She is a very special lady.
Peace,
Barry
