American Way

Post by goldenmyst » September 15th, 2009, 1:38 pm

American Way

The American Way is your way
And my way too
The crucifixion of Jeffersonian Democracy
Bleeds in every baby whose future dies
Under the jack boot of corporate calumny

Lies fester like termites
Devouring the frame of compassion
In the name of small government
And small minds
Hope for huddled masses
Stillborn on delivery

Sanctity of life takes a bow and leaves the stage
The currency cabals applaud uproariously
Empathy is ushered out quietly
Life goes on for the chosen people

Sweetwater great comment and link. Just perusing the summaries was interesting. I had a general knowledge of Western history, but the chronology was fascinating. Most of my background in history comes from Nat'l Geo and having a minor in history. I don't watch TV, don't have cable. Occasionally I see a PBS flic. Ken Burns is great. And yes my poem is kind of a treatise in abbreviated form. Thanks for reading. :)

hester, yep, this is my take on the corporate tyrants who run the country. Glad you could relate. :)
