beautiful silver balloon

Post by mb » October 29th, 2009, 10:43 pm

the beautiful silver balloon spins
a chrome doorknob,
the mirrored center
of a rogue merry-go-round.
I hope it never comes down.
the balloon spins,
encircled by helicopters,
training videocameras,
enabling me on my sofa
to orbit the beautiful
silver balloon
in its lazy waltz
over the sunlit landscape,
so high
that monkeys look like ants
on the lovely ground below,
and somewhere a boy pulls a
sigourney, goes back into
the box for schroedinger’s cat
or was that a dream?
off-camera probabilities and
no access to emerald oz at any rate -
while the beautiful silver balloon
slowly spins as it floats
over the golden land
so high
that idiots look like elephants.

idiots look like elephants
and monkeys look like ants

it's a difficult comment to suggest
that the images are evocative

This bizarre event in Colorado was one big WTF to me. A huge silver weather balloon charged with a million volts on its skin (for steering) tied down in someone's back yard? Huh? And these parents like to take their kids storm chasing, I read in the article. Jeeez.

the event a thin slice of the world-wide WTF... I loved watching the balloon, the rest of the nonsense was just the same shit, different day. I've never understood people who use their children as the means to an end.

Well schnizzle my dazzle.
That the balloon boy event warrents a poem, I am unsure.
I hadn't thought of that until I read Nazz's reply.
Interesting take on it MB.
I dig that the idiots looked like elephants.
