USB
Over the weekend I purchased a USB key. For some of you this may be old technology, but I am amazed. I dumped my entire portfolio on it. I can not believe that I can carry around 15 years of my work in my pocket...

I had a job in the 70's doing admin work for a computer firm while I was in college. Back then computers filled entire buildings and they were only a fraction as powerful and fast as the computer you have on your desktop.
Not too long ago, maybe 10 years ago, I had an external hard drive to back up my work which was almost as big as my computer (physically) and only held about 800 megabytes of data. I think it cost me something like $300.
Now, you can get a little USB thumb drive like you've mentioned which holds 5 GIGabytes of data for only $15.
It's amazing, yeah.
We have moved into the era of portability. The devices people carry around in their shirt pockets are many times more powerful than the computers that used to need huge warehouse buildings to house them.
What's the future going to bring? I can't even imagine!

The 4th Screen
On the 1st screen, we watched
Ed Sullivan and Perry Mason episodes.
On the 2nd screen, we had floppy disks,
then CDs, and then an net connection
for software uploads.
Now we carry around the 3rd screen
in our jacket or jeans pockets.
Where will the 4th screen be? I wonder.
Embedded behind our eye sockets?
