Meanwhile back on the ranch...
Judih, meanwhile back on the ranch, Chanukah has happily arrived and the desert nights get cooler--yes I remember the desert nights, Mohave desert nights, listening to "Tipitina" on the late night wave of New Orleans radio blasted all the way to Uvalde, Texas... Hoo hah! Holidays again and time to break out a roast chicken or something nice like latkas and hearty soup...
Yes, the desert sun goes down like a stone and there is relief spelled like rolaids out in the desert! All the chuckwallas crawl back under their rocks and the armadillos scatter for the mesquite tree thickets near the wash... Yess Yess Yess kind folks and gentle people, the desert is becoming a winter garden. Sometimes a little frost clings to the Bexar hills and there are large times going on down at the civic center, drinkin' wine, spo- dee -o -dee, red cherry wine--

Meanwhile back at the ranch...
Would you believe the Chihuahuan Desert with the radio blasting all the way from New Orleans to Del Rio, Texas, and the nearby hills frosty like
moonlight on marble with the horny toads scattering to the creosote bushes and the armadillos hiding in the wash near the mesquite trees...
Poetic license done took me further back and deeper to the Mohave Desert and Arizona near the Grand Canyon on a clear late August night...gets cold out in the desert at night even in August...the hoo-doos in
the nearby hills take you back one million years with the burros snorting
under the load of bedrolls, pots & pans, and smoked turkey, even a big wad of pemmican rolled in with the the trail mix snacks and water bags...
So flash forward to Great Aunt Estelle's chicken soup and latkas and the
big celebration...onward...
