Cold

Post by creativesoul » January 2nd, 2010, 2:28 pm

I wake up every morning, cold....
It is always 5 or so
sun is not up yet
typing on my iPhone with a thumb
watching each day begin, sizzle
tropical heat blazing on my aging female stomach
still beautiful they say
but my heart and soul talk to me
my body is healing from the wounds of love
I had to draw a line in the sand
surrounding me
he snapped he said
psychosis is "delusion built on a thinking error"
my error was to love a criminal that will be screwed up forever
My father beat women too
I was able to pretend that did not affect me
my landlady and her husband got into it the other night
she came and slept in my bed because she was afraid.
I did not know she was there, but I woke up at 4 in the morning and saged my room.
I sleep hard as a rock
when I dream I am safe
even powerful
today I am going to take my bikini out of the drier
hot
put it on
and go swim in the ocean
after I feed the koi fish and the turtles
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

domestic violence seems to be an epidemic, one that riles my feathers, such a cowardly act to beat on someone smaller, but bullies run the world...they're everywhere, from CEO's to warmongers it's all the same, stomp 'em.........this poem is very sobering and honest, painful and sad, yet ends with a touch of hope......one who is ready to pick up the pieces and move on......best to you in the new year,

steve

Creativesoul, so many lives have been hurt by domestic violence. Clearly you are a strong soul with the courage to move on. I admire your embracing life and its joy in the face of suffering. Keep the faith. You will make it.

John
