Old Flame

I hadn't seen her in years
she looked just the same to me
she refreshed my glass and my memory
remember the wind? and oh, that night?
we won't mention how long ago, will we?
I know, I know, your kids are grown
and your dreams are blown
live on hobbies and the internet
the years have treated you nicely though
she blinked and she was twenty-six
nothing as seductive as foolishness
we spoke of our triumphs and mistakes
the candle flickered and the piano player
seemed to know our tunes
we had our casablanca moment
when he played as time goes by
what if we had done this or this or this?
what could have been? she gave a sigh
then she looked me in the eye
we can't change anything, I fear
we can't add anything or subtract
what shall we do now, my dear?

I like the poem... but the audio.. umm... what is the accompanying instrument? An organ? I can hardly hear your voice. Not to be a critic, but just saying... the instrument/organ gets softer and louder and softer and louder throughout (well throughout about half of it, because that's how much I listened to) ... and overwhelms/drowns out your voice. I can't hear the vocals. Maybe it's my ears?
Again, though.. I like the poem.

I like this sweet number, but as doreen pointed out your voice is barely audible, so in my mind the strength of the story would make it worth rerecording.....it's a honest, tender recollection of what was, what could have been, which I feel we all from time to time, wonder how things may have gone with this one or that one......enjoyed, clay
