this is a drawing i did ten years ago spontaneous....it represents the fall from grace, me doing tai chi, running from the bombing, hat fell off, and the green man sheds a tear for deep grief. i put it in my poem oddessey "cerrillos" about the period of time in vietnam, the refusal to fly, the road to perdition and freedom and the great protest and the open road. all part of my therapy art as way to have visions. it is with great honor and thankfulness that i post it here on studio eight.

Thankz. I replaced the image with a scan from the original drawing. I was using a zerox copy before.

The older drawing has some spots on it from my tears.

I love this face in the foreground.
Solemn serenity in the face of destruction
dogtag, coffin-like, hanging around a bulldog neck.

even his nose is a coffin!

Seems like a feather in his hair is drooping.
Is that the numbers of the men he's killed
or saw killed
scored across his chest?
well I write music review so I do:

Interesting you got the bulldog quality.....I see him as an archtye of ancient and future man, strong yet compassionate. Your interpretation of the marks is not what I'd seen, altho it could apply for some of my friends. I went with an empty gun. I put the bullets in my pocket.....had thought of the Green man as keeping lowly count of the few who said, "no."

The nose came out that way because I was feeling emotional and wanted an ancient, primitive effect, someone scarred and hardened, yet not calloused or jaundiced, but with a raw open heart. And he beckons, offers guidance to the bewildered and lost.
I could use a good Scottish beer right now, or an ale!

As I've said before, moderate induced euphoria is a great companion to melancholia.

I wasn't thinking when I drew it. Thanks for your thoughts!
