No. But if you call the people names who find astrology & mysticism valuable to them and if you personally insult them based on their beliefs, then your comments do not belong here.
It sounds like you didn't read the post of mine which I removed.
I find it rather amusing that you would request that I "ask you nicely."As i said yesterday if you ask nicely, I'll just make an exit

Feel free to log in under a new name but please NEVER slam, insult, or attack our members.
PS - AKS is not a word.
I would appreciate it if you would resign your peresozo membership.Thank you for suggesting you leave before you cause me any more grief. I appreciate that.
The fact that LR keeps the door open for a person who continually ridicules me and every other guest here is beyond my comprehension.

Hummm?
"So, if you saw it and now you don't see it, that's why. I'm ashamed of myself for being so outspoken." (i don't know how to use the 'quote' thingee but willing to learn)
You keep speaking your mind and your heart Doreen and it is your prerogative to change your mind after you do but leave the "shame" outta it!
Peace.

>why do people say ax for ask? How did it originate?
""ax" is the original Old English pronunciation of the verb. Already in Old English the reversed order "ask" ("sk" instead of "ks = x") was used by many people, but "ask" never succeeded in totally eliminating "aks" for all English speakers. Throughout the subsequent history of English we find speakers and writers who use "ax". It is the form used, in the spelling "ax", by William Caxton in 15th century England. Caxton was the first printer of English, and recognised the problem of variant forms of English
and of what to select to reach the largest audi ence. In his time and place "ax" was such a normal pronunciation that he did not hesitate to use it in publishing, and did not even consider it a particular problem , given much more serious problems like whether to use "eggs" or "eyren" (as you guess, "eggs" later won out over "eyren"). Although later publishers selected the
"ask" form, "aks" remains the usual form in speech in some areas of England and also in the US. Once authorities selected "ask" as the official form, at the expense of "ax", it became "non-standard" and thus a marker of varieties of English less influenced by the written standard and the educational system that insists upon it. The colloquial English spoken by perhaps the majority of African Americans is only one of many varieties in which the ancient "ax" pronunciation still survives."
Care to wager on that?PS - AKS is not a word.

Ebonics is a slang term for colloquialisms for certain ethnic groups.
If you are quoting a UCLA linguist, please reference your source.
I thought you offered to leave if I "aksed" nicely.
Well, I did.
Please follow through with your request and read my above statement about re-registering under a new name if you can act in a responsible manner and post your philosophies, essays and poetry and reply to people kindly and respectively.
I am not a doctor. Referencing me as "Dr. Doe," is a derogatory slam intended to make fun of my intelligence.
Now, please honor your offer.

NOTE:
peresozo replied with a short note which insulted me and several other members. I moved the reply to the Dumpster, named it "peresozo's continued insults" or something like that and locked it so he cannot delete it.
I have also reposted my previously deleted comments in that forum.
This is all a HUGE ridiculous waste of time.

Doreen I read your post. It was clear and well spoken.
And the dilemma is still here that is the difference between patriarchy and matriarchy.
We men can be stubborn as hell. My wife was married for almost 20 years to a dominant traditional conservative male. His momma would not truck any dissent from Suzie. When he beat her daughter to a pulp, grandma blamed it on daughter and Suzie.
Suzie has had to deal with guilt tapes ongoing and we had to do therapy as she continued to harbor guilty tapes. She always said, when there was a conflict with me or with her co-dependant daughter, "I always mess things up for everybody." Gradually she has grown past it, but still, whenever we have a conflict of opinion, minor stuff, she will later say to me, "You wouldn't let me do this or that."
And maybe my method of communication is that way. I have to be aware that the male dominates constantly, and that my own readjustment into nursing has involved allowing for female authority. I made friends with my female co-workers, manager, etc. And sometimes I am the one in charge. But they don't resent me, because I don't dictate. I ask if they can handle a situation, an admission of a new incoming patient, about their assignment.
And with the nursing assistants, I used to get flack at times when I'd ask them to do something. So I had to back up and reconsider and practice situational role playing with them. My message was clear. When they were not available, they should say so, and not get angry or upset.
Believe me, we have excellent teamwork there and often as not, they volunteer to do things and when I ask for help, they know it is not an authoritarian thing.
I do not believe that gender bashing, name calling is an appropriate thing. Period. Especially from a man to a woman. We have been so indoctrinated into the male superiority thing for so long. Sometimes the woman gotta win.
In this situation, the woman gave in. Once again.
Irregardless, Big Dawg, if you think that the issue is about freedom of expression or whatever, I disagree with you. It is about setting parameters that allow for that freedom as it pertains to this board. Your opinion is one way and Doreen's is another. More importantly, you have dominated the conflict by your specific action and ruled the way this situation will proceed and Doreen, the woman, has relented. I think you should be aware of the power you wield and consider the manly scope that is your true potential: to encompass the conflict and live with the woman's choice.
