I got to watch a man in action yesterday, my man, in action. Cecil can be deceptively slow or seem unmoving but that is just an illusion my dears. When he wants to, he can get things done that make others seem mere mortals and as for multitasking, he has most beat every time. Did I say he can be deceptively slow and that it was illusion?
Cecil's day yesterday:
1. Cooked breakfast of oatmeal and toast for us
2. Buzz cut Nate's hair (did a nice job!)
3. Sent me the folder (email) of the pictures of art and stuff for the Franciscan Festival appl.
4. Made grocery list (a consult with me and Nate)
5. Took Nate and went to the Post Office, the Bank (deposit), and grocery shopping
6. Brought groceries in, put them away with my assistance
7. Helped me with the aforementioned application and the questions I had waiting for him
8. Took dead battery out of the truck to take it to auto shop to see if it was really dead
9. Battery was RIP, went and bought new battery and installed it even tho new battery was slightly bigger than old and had to adjust space for it in truck guts (kept his cool!)
10. Had a lemonade/tea mix (his fav) and philosophical discussion with me on determinism vs free-will on the deck (kept his cool)
11. Fed the doggies (he does dinner, I do breakfast)
12. Made dinner which was going to be very late due to the other stuff but stuck with his preplanned menu and kept his cool (unlike Nate, who was hungry and wanted it NOW!)
13. Served a late continental style dinner which consisted of Apple-Braised Turkey Thighs (Martha Stewart style), mashed White Rose Potatoes with yogurt and butter, my contribution of Broccoli - Carrot - Cabbage Slaw (Eating Well Magazine style) and canned green beans (Nate style) with a Blue Moon Summer Brew (him), sparkling water (me) and lemonade (Nate)
14. Watched CSI, New York with dinner, cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes and put away stuff (with some help from me, but I get crazy ((not cool)) when the fridge starts to look like his mother still lives here so I back off)
15. Tattin' on the deck with me, more philosophical and political discussion (no arguments, only cool)
16. Watches some Letterman and plays a couple of games of Mahjong on Pogo
17. When I come down to go to bed, I find a little piece of dark chocolate on the bed waiting for me just like at a fine hotel...
Now, that is enough to piss other men off. Isn't it?
As for what I did, it was mostly paperwork and organizing and watering and pottzing, and meditation and bossing, and keeping 'em cool and stuff like that. I don't have the stamina I used to and really have to pace myself and I could never keep up with him, I never could anyway.
I remember one particular time we had gone to Hueco Tanks for a hike and me, Cecil and Zacharia (Zach, our beautiful, lovely, wonderful first fur child in our relationship) decided to climb up a particularly high jumble of rocks (which is what Hueco Tanks is... a jumble of giant rocks) Once we reached the top, Cecil (the Capi goat part) started back down, leaping from one rock to the next like Mikhail Baryshnikov on speed. He was as nimble and swift as one could be and I just watched in amazement cuz I couldn't keep up and neither could Zach. (I had never seen him move that fast!) That was when I started learning that I should never assume or underestimate his capabilities. He is an illusionist, a magician and a very "nice guy" (how he describes himself.) So if you think you know Cecil, the m.t. mynded one, you may not or probably don't for he will fool ya, all the while looking the fool.
