Bicentenario

Post by Arcadia » May 18th, 2010, 10:47 pm

of what? the big festejos in my country were always for the May´s Revolution (1810) not the formal Independence Day (1816), curious...!. And we are in the middle and at the beggining of a saga of festejos, acts, revisionist readings, manifestations and various debates around this anniversary. I´ll begin to post in the following days some links about it.

We are getting ready to celebrate Memorial Day. Which started out as a day to honor our civil war dead. Now it is a generic one size fits all day to honor dead soldiers from all our wars. I think each war should have its own Memorial Day. That way when we have 365 wars we won't have any room left on our calenders for any more wars. Except for leap years.

Happy Revolution day.

The four days ended...:"Era para desarmar... era para desarmar.." I like the title of this brief note (stealing a saying from a TV margarina publicity from the seventies...! )
