transferring nutrients from a species
that has enough to spare
to a species that needs more

while creationist and evolutionists
vie for top billing, a man
sitting on his back porch
staring at shooting stars
having a long contemplative drag
on his favorite smoke
thinks to himself
this complexity of the universe

exceeds our ability
to understand it, this man knows
that mushrooms alone
produce the same classes
of neurotransmitters
that enable him to think
and it doesn't really matter
whose responsible

for all this
god, nature, still
our puny brains are inadequate
to the challenge of comprehension
so howz about, for harmony's sake
we just agree that god's most
brilliant design
was evolution

come to believe over the past 20 years.
It makes more sense to combine the two.
