When Was It?

Post by Lightning Rod » July 2nd, 2010, 9:29 pm

I'm not sure when it happened
somewhere between your toothache and your biopsy
before the breakdown or after my therapy
I don't know if it was something I did or didn't do

the first clue was when you didn't laugh at my jokes
oh, I know that I was taking pokes at everything sacred
to you and your indoctrination but my fascination was
just how easy it was to get a rise out of you like you got one out of me

but it was not a simple jerk of the knee,
reflex or lack of sex, I think it was more complex
something to do with familiarity or similarity
or a quack diagnosis without a second opinion

to understand is not my dominion, I'm a visitor here
and the sheer astonishment didn't last as long as I expected
solo songs were sung, advances were rejected
and I still don't know just when it happened
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

The Poet's Eye

you prolly had her at hello
but little did the two of you know
the bills would build
the grass would grow
the virus would hit
and all the rest of the shit
duets would stop
whaddya know?
and all that crap
that piles so high
like dust particles
taking over the sky
like computer bytes and gigs and bits
and other every day ordinary shit
did you mention other facts?
could you list them?
better not dare
c'est la vie
c'est la guerre
who said love was ever fair?

sad sad sad oh well i know
but many memories to show

fade to black, as they say.......the moment when things begin to decline is normally as imperceptible as the growth of a blade of grass..

..... there is a neutrality in the writing that appeals to my conclusions about relationships,... no longer important to access blame...the writer answers the interviewers questions as honestly as he can....

happy fourth of july, clay......it's hotter than a lit firecracker you accidentally dropped in your pants here in baltimore.....pushin' a hundred degrees all week......time for chillin' and grillin'......
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

what saw said
and what a delightful duet
(it's hot over here, even without july 4th sizzling our landscapes)
