Important: New Video Posting code - Embed code not allowed

Hi all.

We just did an upgrade on the site software and the software developers no longer allow any html code on the site due to security reasons. Html code can be a security risk because people or bots might post links to malware or other harmful stuff.

I converted all of the previous youtube video posts on this forum to the new BB code so they appear embedded.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find all the videos posted in other forums throughout the site so during your use of the site, if you find some youtube embed code that isn't showing as a video, that's why.... html code is no longer allowed. Just send me the link if you'd like by private message and I will fix them.

Here's now to post a video now:

1) Only Youtube videos can be posted as embedded videos.

2) If you want to post a video from another site, just post the link to the page on the other site.

3) Go to Youtube. Find the video you want to post.

4) Click the SHARE button on the youtube page. (It has mail, FB, and Twitter icons) on it. It's right below the video.

5) Youtube will display the video's URL. It will look like this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-QdrUHJbo4

6) To post a video here on Studio8, simply copy everything AFTER the = sign. In this case you'd be copying 0-QdrUHJbo4.

7) Go to the posting window on S8, and paste what you copied. Then select it all and hit the youtube tab at the top left of the posting window and it will create the code.

8 ) It will look like this, but without the spaces:
[ youtube] 0-QdrUHJbo4 [ /youtube]

9) Push submit and VOILA! An embedded video!

Doreen, I got your note on my last "you tube" link. I never ever did try to embed anything because some sites won't let you and I never learned how.
I only recently--early this year-- learned how to send a link. They work from my end. Are you saying that they don't work on your end? I don't have a clue.
I have sent links to news articles and videos. Do these still work in my column?
I never tried to embed them, just posted the links. (I still haven’t figured out how to make the highlight boxes around some of the quotes.)


Answer me back as soon as you can. I will not post any further music videos,
until I get an answer. Your directions might be clear to computer savvy folks, but
I don't understand the problem. I guess I need further insight or explanation. Is it alright to just send links like I am used to doing? I never used any codes.

Steve, you can post the links if you prefer to do it that way. The links work fine for everyone! Just thought you were posting the link because you didn't now that the embed code changed for the site when we upgraded the software and so I was trying to help by telling you that the embed code had changed.

You can do it either way... a link, or embed. Whichever way you'd like!

Doreen, thanks for the tips. I didn't want to mess up the site's software.
Glad to know I may still post links. I'll have to practice the new embed system,
before using it here for you tube.

I still don't know how to post photos, except through links. I understand that there is a procedure for that, too. I think I remember seeing you explain the new stuff to Arcadia, not too long ago--last week?
I'll get a tutorial on that stuff, too.

Like I said, earlier, I'm just now trying to get the hang of highlighting quotes.
It still is complicated to me and takes practice. I usually just put quotes around the whole thing and then secondary quotes if needed. The software doesn't do
triple highlighting of quotes. So, I try to stay away from it so the software will
let me post. Thanks again for your notes on "White Bird", by "It's a Beautiful Day."
