Sometimes

Post by eugeneherman » September 14th, 2010, 3:19 am

I wrote a gospel tune for my dear aunt Meme deceased at 99, 3 weeks ago. Sometimes when I walk alone, the sun shines down on me, Sometimes when I lift my eyes, then I can clearly see. In 'G'!

Hey Butch! Long time no see!

Condolences to you and your family for the loss of your grandmother.

I'd love to hear the gospel song.... if and when you put music to it.
Sometimes when I walk alone, the sun shines down on me, Sometimes when I lift my eyes, then I can clearly see
That's just beautiful!

And I echo Doreen! And I wonder if those words are part of your tribute in music...because I hear gospel in them. Peace and thanksgiving.

Yes Joel, Faced with the inevitable loss of a friend and life influence and trying to deal with my sorrow in meditation these words walked into my mind and I am still writing on this as a calming vehicle for me. That 'process' is my salve, and the words and chords and melodies that flowed to me are just a byproduct of the meditation.

Thanks for sharing your slave and meditation. I read your what comes to and through you, "Sometimes when I lift my eyes, then I can clearly see", and it carries language that to me is charged with words of my own salve and meditation, words my own grandma (good friend, life influence, etc) poured over and that have washed over me since her death. Isn't it amazing how a few linked words can chain us to peace (or terror...or whatever in between) so easily?
the psalmist wrote: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord,
which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:
he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel
shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper:
the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil:
he shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth,
and even for evermore.

I have a musician friend in Florida who was bemoaning the lies of media, government, politicians and pundits etc., and I replied 'Love is the buoy, hate is the bait!' The most simple words can change or erase many confusions, and as well cause so many!

He's told them he'll make them all fishers so great
that humans, not fishes, their catches will sate--
but the worms are not men;
they've sought fishes again
with love not to bouy the bait of their hate.
