des Sonnabends

Post by joel » September 18th, 2010, 1:30 pm

Tomorrow I'll eat pita bread
for breakfast, rather than the toast
of normal mornings, and instead
of milk or juice, I'll toast with wine
(at barely ten o'clock) the head
of the table and the guests around
it; then, when all of us are fed,
and after we have laughed and cried
together, all the words we've said:
I'll take them all, I'll take them all--
and just like burying the dead
in dirt, or cradling a child,
I'll tuck each word in pita bread
and rinse with any wine we've left.

Random thoughts while reading des Sonnabends

A mazing
A— men

How do I read a poem
sometimes like reading the label on a can of re-fried beans
looking for its nutritional content

you pack a lot of nutrient in there for me rev.

thinking about you and how much I enjoy your poetry
sometime i would dearly love to see you and mingo on a jam
he reminds me of your poetry although his style in completely different

curious as to what the quackers objection to saying Amen was
they were also very anti-music in the early days of the 17th cent.

Pardon the random train of my thoughts
Sunday morning coming up and I still miss those gentle Friends with wills of steel
always attracted to the "silent meetings" for worship, no preacher, just a clerk to take care of business.

Quackers also known as The Religious Society of Ducks.
