Very Very Very Fine House

Post by Lightning Rod » September 24th, 2010, 6:58 pm

Very Very Very Fine House

In my house, the level of levity is high
don't come here if you can't take a joke
the incense you smell is sarcasm or cigarettes

this is the smoking section,
the breathing section is outside
I allow you to come, but I'll tell you to leave
if you can't take a joke

in my house there is humor
rough and tumble, bullet holes in the walls
whores and gamblers like it here
they will gladly take you for a joke

my house is a camp of the unlikely
insomniac virtuosos crash on the couch
I don't mind if you sleep past noon
as long as you can take a joke
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

In my house, if you flick cigarettes on people, even if you think it's funny, the joke's on you 'cause adios!

LOL :D
the breathing section is outside
in my house, we breathe deep, keep our
inhales pure, exhale with lungs open wide
and the smoking section's outside!

:)

Cute poem, Lrod. You almost literally scared me! Such a threatening piece! Do we all need bodyguards?

(now i guess I should go outside and have a cigarette because I'm trying to stop smoking. Crazy, huh? smoking a cigarette to stop smoking? Oh well)

i've never been too bright.
since i'm lucky to be alive,
i guess i should stop tonight.

I'll drop by for tea... We'll all have some tea with our pinkies uplifted... & wonderful scones with some sugar that's sifted... the sarcasm jelly is bitter I'm told... it'll water your eyes and will tickle your nose... pomegranate puerile is all that you need... just chew it up slowly and spit out the seeds!

There is no greater joy than making the rules in your own house. My house always welcomes a joke because laughter is my cardinal element.

but I've always liked the quote from Jubal Harshaw: "This is freedom hall. Do whatever you want. Until you do something I don't like and then I'll kick you the hell out."

'specially if you can't take a joke

My sentiments exactly. :D

Well, no not exactly. I'd rephrase it to read:

"This is not freedom hall. If you do something I don't like and then I'll kick you the hell out."

Which reminds me of a Garrison Keillor joke.
What do you call a musician who broke up with his girlfriend?

My brother a very dear friend of mine and a psychiatrist once told me I have a sick sense of humor,
but I thought maybe so but it got me in and out of New York City on a number of Occasions , I am talking down in the belly of the beast, Hunt's Point around midnight waiting to unload produce.

I had a friend named Stevie, voice like an angel, one of those guys everyone wanted to play with. His girl friend's father loved him, she had a very rich father. Her father bought him a very expensive old Martin guitar. Gave him an easy money job at a resort he owned up the montains arond Montecello Virginia he did this because he loved his daughter and his daughter loved Stevie. Pride oh foolish pride, long story,
bottom line he broke up with her
he lived on my couch for 18 months
when he would bring out that Martin and play some music and sing it made it all the aggrevation of living with an alcoholic worthwhile. Eventually I could not stand it anymore and we went to church one sunday to see if I could get someone to help him.

I lost tucouh with him than I heard he had pawned the guitar and lost it
and later I heard he died
and I wondered if it was suicide

long ramble
about that Garrsion Keillor joke about homeless musicians
don't ask me why Clay
mindless chatter
or you could say
High Jack
because I am.

You must have the kinda place I like to come and visit.
Where I can sit down, have a smoke and some coffee, sing a few tunes at random with others, blankets, fascinating stories, temporary but charged connections.
Where have all these places gone???
Glad to see there is still at least one around.
Love this read LRod.

i think that you are really vulnerable and kind, and want unconditional love at your house- and endless laughter
i assume the bullet holes are scars, and that your less fortunate friends have a safe place to be-i like it
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

awesome!

Since laughter is my cardinal element
it’s not the gravity of life for me
that burns my incandescent filament
of creativity, but revelry--
rebellery-- religiosity
that’s revolutionarily repelled
down cliffs of edge-of-earth in sanity
for sanitation’s sake ’fore souls are felled
by boredom borne from seriousity
that limits elements to ordered charts
and cardinals to directionality
and pretty birds and priests. I play for hearts
that rather laugh to be my winning suit
and pray such laughter take my heart to root.
"Every genuinely religious person is a heretic, and therefore a revolutionary" -- GBShaw
