Riot Act

Post by Lightning Rod » November 19th, 2010, 8:40 pm

Riot Act

Ole Rap Brown
got nothin on me
I could start a riot
at the bottom of the sea

Don't cross no State line
doin just fine from here
down in the ghetto of souls
starting riots in the blogosphere

Tie me up like Bobby Seale
'fore I testify for real
Me and H. Rap Brown
starting riots from the underground

'fammatory speech for breakfast
little piggie ribs for lunch
got Mao Tse Tung fo suppah
riots in the kool-aid punch

thousand points, a thousand spots
riots burn like a thousand Watts
Me and Mao and H. Rap Brown
throwin' riots in the underground
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Watts riots
fired up
the late 60's
we saw that cat
stealing the TV
from the store window
we knew then that we
had to swipe reality
from the compartmentalized
one they would have us believe
oh, the images on the tube cube
all that riot goin on in Watts town
oh how they tried to spin that like
a hypodermic needle compass
gone crazy, all them angry black kids
is just lazy, ha, we are in a Watts state
of mind, and the African mask is comin
off

four dead in Ohio, four dead in Ohio

When Martin Luther King spoke of his dream
when Mark Twain spoke of his tea time" denial
ain't just a river in Egypt"oh how much denial
does it take to fill the ocean of dreams, watts
goin on? what is goin on, they is a riot goin on
and they got the fire down below, "alright then,
I'll go to hell" said Mark Twain, alright I have
a dream, said the unknown poet, and if you saw
the revolution in my mind, you would see, we
ain't just sealing reality Tv from the busted
department store window way down in Watts
you twats! you Egyptian rivers goin down da Nile

LRod, et al, Looks like a tasty situation...those days may come again soon...
We could post signs on the internet: "T Partiers will choke on teabags & get
thrown out of cups in two years" or "Give them enough tea and they will OD!"
or "We'll bend over and T- baggers will kiss our tea bags". Hoo Hah!
The tea partiers will make the back page "fold-in" in MAD magazine: "More hi-jinks from "Wailin' Palin"!" What think ye?

I wish to retract my last post
clearly I've not sufficiently argued and established
my case that mega-corporatism has ruined the world (again)
my apologies

My Apologies to Gil Scot-Heron

The revolution will be televised
Fox News will predict the winner
Exxon will put you in the drivers seat

while I was sitting in Hoffman's Court
I saw it on the news report
my gag was getting too tight
when this arrived to my inbox
2nd warning. If you post again an inflammatory article or any rhetoric with the intention of pissing people off, I will delete your account.

3 strikes, you're out.

Thank you.
this meaningless missive
bound and gagged
bound and gagged
can't cross state lines
incite to riot
breakin the rules
I RESIGN!!

Thanks for broadcasting private messages in public just as you published private emails where you insulted, badmouthed, and berated me repeatedly in your blog, not to mention naming me by name, my children's names, my ex-husband's name, and my website name, all of which are searchable and I'm sure will do me wonders while I'm on unemployment looking for a job. There's nothing you're incapable of.

You're a gifted poet and writer. It's a shame you often waste your time using your talents for the sole purposse of disrupting an entire community and making people upset. In the past, we've lost several members regarding your inflammatory posts, people who told me they wouldn't come back here unless I did something about it. That was a long time ago. Only a couple of them have come back. There was one person who didn't speak to me for months because of your posts.

This last episode within the past 2 days where you defended pedophiles, stating that children and adults can have sex and that's all fine and good since the child should have the right to consent, was absolutely over the line.

Several people got upset because as children, they themselves were abused, and several were concerned for their own children. Such posts break the TOS of our hosting account (not because they are troll-like, trying to rile people up), but because they are promoting an illegal activity. That is another reason why you got the warning.

I wish I'd saved my posts from the 2 threads because I said it much better in the threads which were deleted.

I asked you on the first thread not to continue but you did anyway. So I locked the thread. Immediately, within 5 minutes of my locking the thread, you opened another thread on the exact same topic.

Call me a censor if you'd like. I don't care.

Posts which are made deliberately for the sole purpose of disrupting the site plus disturbing and upsetting the members of the site are not posts that are welcome here. And definitely posts which promote illegal activity are not welcome here.

Nice poem. Cya. :)

By the way, the image you posted is hotlinked to another site. It is stealing bandwidth from another site and we've talked about this many times.

I checked the code for the image and it comes from here:

http://www.richsamuels.com/nbcmm/chicag ... _bound.jpg

Please do not hotlink from other sites and steal their bandwidth.

If you want to steal their images, that's on you. But you must host the images on your own account at photobucket, flickr, or some other image hosting account. These image hosting accounts are free.

Hotlinking has never been allowed here.

I feel like a player in a heated boisterous golf game who came later to the
field in question...No one should, in my view, be using personal attacks against
the administrators in a site. Especially, when the administrator is such a nice,
patient person like Doreen. Insults to family and friends are just inexcusable.

I have only been on this site slightly less than a year and I can see the good in all parties involved. LRod, you have your good points. However, when a topic is inflammatory, and one has such divergent views on a subject, it is best to just change the subject or end the discussion...This seems to be why Doreen acted so that the integrity of our collective site will be preserved. I think Doreen did the right thing to shut down discussion on the topic of "pedophilia". The topic was getting noxious.

Still truckin' , you've been a great and sensitive soul from the beginning and I have seen you spout off occasionally as we all do. I find your many alias to be refreshing in that it gives you a different persona to speak through...I would have a hard time keeping track of all my personas, though, if it was me. ( I did that for a while, too-- I had as many as four on other sites)

We are a great collective of writers, artists, video producers and introducers.
I see quite interesting comments, photos, & videos here which enrich our experiences. But, we should realize that this site is a cooperative venture.
So, like LBJ used to say: "Don't spit in the soup. We all have to eat". We
all get to say things here which are controversial and we have an audience
for such. However, remember, there are limits to freedom of expression. With
freedom of expression, comes responsibility to not totally offend the reader. We
walk that line every day when we post. Keep in mind we have a worldwide audience.

Sorry for the huge speile, but I really want friendship to prevail.
So, let's get together and apologize to those who've been wronged by our
actions, and make amends, like there are fences to be mended. Remember
that "good fences make good neighbors" like Robert Frost once said.
We don't want folks to come here and be way out of their comfort zone.

We don't want to be way out of bounds because our "fences" are torn away.
Total transparency is not good for the community. Some thoughts must
be kept to oneself. We don't want, like Doreen, et al, have said, to be
outside legal domains. So, give credit to where credits are due and so on...
Enough from my preacher persona... Peace... Remember, as Dalton Roberts
once said: "Don't lose Thanksgiving!"

You are right SP, I have spouted off too. I constantly search the archives and find so many posts by me that make me cringe.
I have tried to do better this past year.

I can't see anything worse in clay than I see in myself.
