Re: sueku
Now, Happy, if we can get Sue to compose a sueku about a cuckoo we'll have a haikoo for sure.

I love you all dearly, I adore it when you write a perfect haiku. I reatly admire this cuckoo haiku about the Sueku. Here is a nonsense response that almost (almost!) scans! ♥♥♥
The only cuckoo
that might fit in a sueku
lived in a small clock,
heeding tick and tock.
He kept timely score
with cuckoo-cuckoos galore.
and drove us insane
with that endless refrain.
Day and night he cried cuckoo--
on the half hour too!
we let his weights drop
so the cuckoos would stop.
What joy, what peace
since the cuckoos cease!
I find Silence is bliss,
with no "cuckoos" to miss!

Re: sueku
Sue, I love it when you respond with a poem, so here's one back to you. This one ALMOST rhymes.
Cuckoo, cuckoo day and night
Cuckoo, in and out of sight.
Tells the world when to eat
When to rise and when to sleep.
What a busy little bird.
Bossing us all with just one word.
Remove his weights, take them away
And get one perfect peaceful day.
Cuckoo, cuckoo day and night
Cuckoo, in and out of sight.
Tells the world when to eat
When to rise and when to sleep.
What a busy little bird.
Bossing us all with just one word.
Remove his weights, take them away
And get one perfect peaceful day.

You clever girl, using a pseudonym! But you can't fool ME! Love your cuckoo response, could it be we are both a little, ummm, coo coo? ♥♥♥

The pseudonym, yeah. A long story.
Not hiding from you.
I think that we may be a little coo coo. But that is half the fun of living. N'est pas?
Sorry, I don't write Spanish. The best I can do is French.

"The best I can do is French..." Montreal, huh? And guess what, EVERYTHING I translate or write in Spanish has to be cleaned up by my Argentine friends, bless them!
I spent the entire morning listening to Yves Montand, Jaque Brel, Edith Paf and various others whose names I forget on Youtube. Oh, wow! I love French, even if I understand about 22% of it. I also love Yves Montand, have for years ... he is divine!
If you ARE in Montreal, I have an invitation to Concordia University to present my most important book, an epic poem on the history of corn in the Americas, as well as give lectures to a few classes. Wouldn't it be fun if we could meet? I have a standing invitation for February, which means my rear end would freeze solid and drop off, but I could lose a little weight!
Much love,
Sue♥♥♥

I think my favourite French singer has to be Charles Aznavour. I love his voice and his singing style. Check out "Yesterday When I Was Young," by him. It is so beautiful. And you should try Lucille Starr, singing "The French Song". That is actually the title of it. She recorded it on the day her husband told her he was leaving her. at the time, she already had the studio booked and she was young and didn't have much money to throw away so she went ahead with the recording and you can hear the melancholy in her voice. She once said in an interview, that if her husband hadn't chosen that day to leave her, the song would never have made it as big as it did. It was the tears in her voice that made it work for her. Not often that the worst day of your life also becomes the luckiest!!
I was born and raised in Montreal, but I moved to Ontario when I was 30 years old. I have been back for brief periods and for visits to my parents when they were alive and to an aunt after they died, but I don't care for Quebec as a place to live. You are not respected if you are not fluent in french. I am not. Never did get very good at it. Just don't have a knack for languages. I am actually better at reading it than speaking or understanding the spoken word, because I can take it in at my own pace.
