"Nossa cossy, Mommy" said this little girl who wasn't quite eleven months old.
"Nossa cossy" she repeated, and we looked at each other with wonder in our eyes.
She was speaking; actual words.
Alright, they weren't English. We had no idea what she was saying, but she was speaking.
And again; "Nossa cossy" and we laughed.
When we laughed, so did she, and she kept repeating the words to see us laugh again.
What, we wondered, was she trying to say? What did she want?
How could we discover what it was she was trying to tell us? And we began asking her.
Do you want this?.... That?.....Is it a toy?.....Maybe she'd like a bath?.....To go for a walk?
But she just kept repeating "Nossa cossy" and she'd laugh. Finally, we gave up.
The mystery was bound to clear itself up as she became able to pronounce her words more clearly.
Later, that evening:
"Want a coffee Judy?" I asked.
And Dawn began to laugh. "Nossa cossy? Nossa cossy?"
Then we knew.
What a clever little girl.

Re: Nossa Cossy
I like this. It's great when you finally figure out what they're saying!
When my daughter was a toddler, she used to say "Wazzat?" all the time pointing at things. I guess that's pretty normal. She wanted to know the names of things.
But her first words sounded like, "Don Knotts".
Hahaha....we never figured out what she was trying to say. Maybe she was asking for a donut?
