Temporary man

Post by hester_prynne » December 20th, 2010, 1:05 am

Temporary man.
Like a heroin fix,
crash and burn.

Vandalizes hearts.
Sucks like a vampire,
to celebrate his dis ease.

Marries first to get some.
Knocks up the neighbor,
along with his wife.

Temporary man.
Runs from what he's broken,
to break some more.

an unfortunate cycle of operation that destroys trust ( because your poem infers lying and dishonesty )......but old as the hills.....saying whatever it will take to get what you want.....and as you conclude , the deception has to deal with so much more than sex.....it deals with the heart.....well done H

Temporary man.
Runs from what he's broken,
to break some more.
But listen, I’m a temporary man—
a fact I’ve only noticed recently;
I’m handsome like a fragile former cloud,
like momentary love’s rigidity
embedded in a young man’s lover’s arms
or armed for conquest in his lover’s bed—
and always poised for more than I can give.
But temporary’s not how I would live
and not how I would have you loved. Instead
I want – for both of us – the steadfast charms
of resolute reliability.
I want to be as perfect as allowed
by human nature; yet, indecently,
I love within the moments when I can.
