THE SHOP LIFT.

Post by dadio » December 20th, 2010, 3:55 pm

Sutcliffe distracted the shopkeeper, while
O’Brien liberated candy bars
Into his pockets, with his usual
Innocent gaze, even managing to

Liberate two packets of cigarettes
From the shelf behind, while Sutcliffe did his
Distracting game, while behind O’Brien’s
Back, Moorcraft stood pocketing the spare from

Elsewhere. You stood by the door, keeping watch
Over the street and candy store, watching
O’Brien work his skills, and Sutcliffe that
Blond haired, blue eyed wonder boy, distracted

For all he was worth, and then, Sutcliffe said,
His voice a tremor, Daddy died, his last
Wishes carried on the wind, and the shop
Keeper, eyes watery, mouth wide open,

Totally in a maze of sadness and keen
Listening onto each word and tone, each
Tear and moan, gave Sutcliffe a gift to ease
His grief, as O’Brien, Moorcraft and you

In tow, slipped out and off, with O’Brien
Muttering, go, man, go, watching the shop
Keeper wipe an eye as Sutcliffe the blond
Haired boy, said thank you, Sir, and waved goodbye.
