Blue Ridge Mountain Tops Snippet--Labor Day Wk. 2010

Post by Steve Plonk » September 22nd, 2010, 4:21 pm

I Day dreamed...High in the mountain tops of my home,
as I travelled on the roads--
across the crests of the plateaus: I rolled in my car.
I carried chests in the trunk--within these chests
were boxes full of writ, laughter, humor & quite wry wit...

Yellow sun coursed through cloudy heavens as I drifted carrying
all the writing & lit to which I's gifted...

* * *

I rolled over Blue Ridge peaks & flats of the plateaus as
if in a daze or trance, watching every new bend & tree
which leaned over toward me...

A cougar crossed the road & I continued on entranced by
the scenery & the turning of the leaves...
A couple of wild pigs squealed across the road as I travelled
onward to the "Valley of a Thousand Smokes" , & I glimpsed
the orange of tiger lilies & other colored wild day lilies in the gleam
of the late summer sun...

Then, suddenly, it seemed, I had reached my destination: Fort Mountain
State Park, near Chatsworth, GA. I pulled into a rest stop and parked...
There, next to me, was a van full of family and friends ready for a picnic.

Unusual story, but well told.

Dadio, Thanks so much for your positive post! I worked hard on this one,
to get the air of travel & mystery before the heart-warming conclusion...
