Ultraviolet & Infrared

Post by saw » December 26th, 2010, 5:06 am

Not every reality is made of iron
some are amorphous chameleons
that slither between the bands
of ontological thought

If the sign says No Smoking
and I allow a cigarette to burn
from tip to filter in the ashtray
have I broken the law ?

Does hearing what my brother,
my sister has to say always
need to feel like catching
an accelerated cannonball ?

They tried to convince, enlighten
Diamond Jim Brady that his level
of consumption was evil by placing
one worm in a glass of water and

the other in a glass of Jim Beam,
in no time the drunken maggot
gagged, then floated on top as the smug
tester asked, Now Jim, ...now....do you see ?

Brady took a long slow breath, replied
Yes, Yes, I do see now, if you drink
enough whiskey you will never have worms.
So there you have it, don't be so hasty

to brand your neighbor as this
label your sister as that
hunker down in the sleeping bag
of your truth

I always liked that little ditty
by Huey Lewis, It's Hip To Be Square
but I'm working on a follow up I'm calling
It's Badass To Be Tolerant, OK, OK it needs

a little work, but if tomorrow your retina fails
to function, will the sky still be blue ?
If you grew up in a black and white tv show
will you be able to accept the Hi-Def children ?

What if your open mind suddenly was flooded
with over-stimulating sensations of light and sound
that subdued the language of consciousness
with the rote power of mere computation

Try to remember these three things, One
even before there was a theory, lightning
was already an electrical discharge, Two
you don't need a DNA test to know identical twins,

and Three, the strike zone is only a suggestion.
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I tried this worm trick... didn't work out the same...
olive... my worm, complained about brain damage...
and something about... it was difficult be sure... but
it sounded something like, " pierce the veil...,
something-something, something-something..."
that was all...

what's up with that?

huey lewis pretty much finished us off
insured that 90% of the electorate, at any time
would be drunk on some bar band, beer swillin'
god willin'.. hey, wasn't that about reagan time?

nice, steve. like the message about tolerance. far too little for too long, or so it seems. in the case of repealing "don't ask...", not sure how to read that. i like the prospect of some military folk getting long-overdue justice within their field, but... hate to say, it does seem another expedient step taken for global corporat-o-cratic interests (why put any limits on the volunteer army?) oops! sorry, political again.
