star dregs

Post by revolutionrabbit » December 26th, 2010, 11:07 pm

they say that a hole opened up in the hole
before this the thought was that a hole was
only one hole without any other openings
now a hole is unholy without any pretense

a hole is not just a hole
a hole is a hole is a hole
and we as poets can fill
it with as many words
as we think, or otherwise
we can fill it with as few

in any case a whole new hole
has been discovered just when
they thought that the old hole
was just too good to be true

lately they have taken to calling
the old hole a word that means
the opposite of light or the meaning
of all colors combined or it is the
other besides white, now it is a black
hole

and out of that is all that stuff that could
tell the truth about all that hyperbole to
fill the empty hole of everything they
just never had the imagination to see holes
as the real name of God and not the name
of Pope's A-hole because he is too anal to
just call it cosmos or multiverse or center
of the galaxy or core of the milkyway

if I as a hole meditating poet sees a hole open
up in the sidewalk and I spit into the hole a poem
am I breaking some kind of cosmic law?
will the big black hole come and suck us into
the event horizon once and for all
or will we just eventually see the poem

open its hole is a hole is a hole that we would fill
with all the junk on and off the planet to blot it out
or as it is becoming more aware that a void is not a
hole, and that the word hole is well served to call
it the opening that is made when you can see through
it

nor is a hole a heaven or a hell because everything has
it and everything is made of it, even if the world seems
to be falling through one as the information leaks out
of the other

the poem is like a trip thru space that stimulates thought.....questions among other things, the poets role in filling that space....well conceived and delivered.......

yeah, i wrote it fast, how do you say something that speaks
about what we normally don't think about, or know about
or to talk about spitting on the sidewalk from a whole different
perspective, poetry covers a lot of territory and yet it still seems
to say the same things, question the same things, like is language
limited to how much we know about the cosmos, does our use
of words become more cosmic as understanding of the forces
around us becomes greater, is poetry evolving? As the world
around us unfolds it seems like people are actually more dumb
then ever, i only have to think of religion or politics and poetry
suddenly seems up against the wall, insanity in the world
is not getting any less, like wise the poets are the ones who
are suppose to be able to simulate madness so as to
see through the holes in our reasoning, and so on.I don't
have a formula, so my poems are always falling apart.

well rabbit, just keep thinking and writing, without writers, poets, we are left with Dancing With The Stars, which is about a millennium or two from Carl Sagan's Cosmos.....A book you would probably dig is Empire of Illusion, The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle by Chris Hedges. I found it to be a clear, cogent analysis of how we got to this place in time....

forget about the secret formula......the answer is use your brain for something other than a repository for pop trivia......best of luck......

no not a "secret" formula, just formula
kinda like poetry by the numbers

I am familiar with Chris Hedges, and hasn't that word
"spectacle" already been used by Guy Debord?
anyway Hedges is very right on in a lot of what he says.

I haven't read a book in a while now, I use to read books
all the time, I have one I got recently called God and his
Demons, by Michael Parenti.
