88th birthday somewhere I trust

Post by joel » November 24th, 2010, 1:45 pm

A fool’ll build upon the sand—
a sage, upon a stone;
but I am neither wise nor not
and so I build on none.

I’m rather fond of water, though.
Perhaps I’ll hover on
the ocean’s face in spirit, place
my walking ’til I drown—

or maybe I’ll be homeless—
or groundless like the sky—
and chase seraphic messages
where suns and buzzards fly—

or else I might do all these things
and court a wiser course
who finds me on a comet’s ice
that winds the universe.

Beautiful thoughts, good sir.

Your talent in writing poetry is starting to catch up with you, Joel. I am publishing my book of Sueku in January, most probably, and I would like to include the poem you wrote to the dove, in English and in Spanish translation, in the Prologue. My e-mail is mujermaiz@yahoo.com. I would like a name, but "Joel, Pastor" will do me if you prefer to remain incognito. Of course I will not use that lovely poem without your permission.

Mil cariños,
Sue

you deftly tread upon that thing that tugs at all of us, what will become of me...and it never seems to end, it goes on...the wandering mind of a person and a poet that poses possibilities....what-ifs.......nice work
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
