What was that?

Post by Alyria » February 20th, 2005, 10:34 am

I buried you with plastic
hearts and roses
only to dig you up
with my bare hands
just to feel the weight
of fate in my palms

you reeked of ages past
and reminded me
of why
it's
good
to forget
Waste not.

Thank you for the kind welcome. Did you really like my poem or were you just being polite? Feel free to swing away, I am nothing if not resilient.
Waste not.

Hi Alyra.

Welcome to Studio Eight! Glad you found us!

I love the metaphor in this piece. Niely done! It reminded me of an image I used in a stanza in a poem I wrote some years back called "fairytale." Just found it.... here's the stanza -

but the funeral is over now
the burial complete
i dig his grave and
bury him in my backyard
and he grows into weeds
to be yanked out
and tossed in the
compost pile

I liked the bare hands and "weight/ of fate in my palms." I always enjoy interior rhyme like that. And "plastic/ hearts and roses" - yeah! Nice!

But as for the metaphor itself, great minds think alike? Or Love is a common gardening experience for women. It's messy. Sometimes flowers, sometimes weeds. Dig? ;)

hehe...

Anyway, welcome... I'm looking forward to reading more of your work.

Ahhh... You tease me with a stanza, when like minds would demand nothing less than the entire construct. I am likewise glad I have found this delightful haven of madness. I look forward to the sights we will share here.

I too, welcome you Alyria

And I too, like your poem.

And I don't believe Lrod would ever say what he don't mean. He shoots from the hip, I believe he's originally from Texas, shoot me if I'm wrong. :)

heh

Well, I could post the whole thing. Maybe I will. It's an older style of mine. But styles change every day. Hell, sometimes I change my style in the middle of changing my style. I've even not had any style at all from time to time. Matter of fact, some have said I've never had any style ever but what IS style, for that matter?

Yeah, I'm rambling. That's my style today. So what? What did you expect from such a place of madness? LOL!

Glad to tease ya.... i'll post it but just remember, it's an old style and back then, I used to ramble a lot. Some things never change. ;)

Alyria, I am not noted for my politeness.
I usually say what I mean or nothing at all.
if you are resilient, then you are in the right place.

What is style?!

Is that a challenge?

Do you need proof
that I have eyes
that see through
your layers
of bullshit,
to the source
of your fountain
of endless enchantment?

It will take time ... but I am up to the pleasure.

...& very much looking forward to reading more of your words, regardless of their place along the road.
Waste not.

Isn't it magnificent when we can step outside the box & be noted for something we are not usually noted for? Doesn't that just scream of balance?

Or maybe it just screams & I am suffering from tinnitus.

Anyway, I would not even begin to doubt what nobody is sure about, so I'll just say thanks, again, and do my damnedest to keep you entertained. :)
