I can write some mean shit
some nights when I ache
from my metatarsal to my
hair follicle, the words explode,
fountains of ink spew
a bloody geyser , the manic
language of a revolving
Linda Blair head, full of black
destruction and comical death,
but not all the time, sometimes
I tap the lifeblood that wrestles
the demons in wire cage matches
the ones that hide so well in the day
those devilish pockets of terror
that only mighty sword-wielding
words can rattle loose from the ceilings
of caves making my pain a blessing
that irritant gift given to unsuspecting
patients as locomotive cleanser
to make them feel cleaner, healthier
to nourish the honey in the rock
so it chokes off the stalactites
of ancient sorrows till they fall away
where I crush them with my boot heels
